Tryout Information

 Tryout Dates:

• Conditioning: Wednesday, April 23 and Thursday, April 24, 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. 

• Clinic: Monday, April 28-Wednesday, April 30, 4:00-6:00 p.m.

• Tryouts: Starting at 4 p.m.

*all events will be in the "Cheer Room"  (room 938)

*all events are mandatory

• Tryout Results:

  • All Teams will be posted on the Results Page of this website by 8:00 PM on Sunday, May 4 by Tryout Number

  • Teams will be determined based on interest and skill level at tryouts.

Required for Tryouts:

1.  Academically Eligible

   1. • Must have passed 5 out of 6 classes last semester 

      • Must be on track for graduation (rising 10th: 5 credits; rising 11th: 11 credits; rising 12th: 17 credits)

2. Be currently enrolled as a student in 9th - 11th grade at NHS (or IA residing in NHS district).

3. Tryout Application must be completed with a parent by Friday, April 18.

4. Teacher Recommendation Form sent to at least 3 current teachers by Friday, April 18

5. Rank One completed by Friday, April 18

• This includes the Physical Form that must be signed by a doctor

6. Athletic Participation Fee ($250) paid on or before by Friday, April 18  (OSP or Check made out to Northview High School)

7. Tryout Packet final signature page due on or before Friday, April 18 signed by athlete and parent.

Tryout Tips:

• Be on time each day.

• Dress appropriately for cheerleading activities and secure hair away from the face, preferably wear a bow.

• Students are not allowed to wear jewelry of any kind- necklaces, rings, earrings, nose-rings, bracelets, anklets, belly-ring, etc. 

• Students are not allowed to participate with fingernails over GHSA regulation. (No sns, no polish, no acrylics, no gel)

• Everyone must wear solid black shorts and solid white top for the actual tryout. 

• Please be picked up on time each day.

• Videotaping or the use of electronic devices during the try-out clinics and tryouts is prohibited.

• Try-out clinics and tryouts are closed sessions and will be enforced all season.

• No one is guaranteed a spot on any team – even if you were on the team before. Stay positive and remember the entire week is a tryout!
