The New Haven & Northampton Canal Greenway Alliance (NHNCGA) is the organization formed to unify and promote the entire trail under the single umbrella name of "New Haven & Northampton Canal Greenway". The NHNCGA is not a 501(c)3 non-profit, however it operates as a non profit and has a fiscal sponsorship arrangement with the Norwottuck Network.
The New Haven & Northampton Canal Greenway (NHNCG) is the name of the partially constructed multi-use trail that spans 80+ miles, connecting New Haven CT, and Northampton MA. The trail has a history as a canal, then a railroad, and now a paved recreational path.
