Nicolas Hérault

I am Professor at the Bordeaux School of Economics at the University of Bordeaux. Prior to joining BSE in 2022, I was Associate Professor at the Melbourne Institute: Applied Economic & Social Research at the University of Melbourne, Australia.

My research interests include income inequality and income mobility, tax and transfer policies, labour market participation and housing economics. Some of my recent research has focused on the combination of survey and administrative record data to better measure inequality and to evaluate public policies. I also have a long-term interest in the use and development of tax-benefit microsimulation models.

I am also a Research Fellow of the Australian Research Council Centre of Excellence for Children and Families over the Life Course, of the Global Labor Organization and the World Inequality Lab.
