Next-Generation Multimedia Services at the Edge: Leveraging 5G and Beyond
A half-day technical workshop on next-gen Multimedia Services
Sponsored by the OPTIMIST project, the workshop aims to foster collaboration and innovation among stakeholders and propel the evolution of multimedia services towards a more interconnected and efficient future.
Call for Papers
Recent advances in 5G and 5G beyond technologies have revolutionized the telecommunications industry by providing faster speeds, higher bandwidth, and lower latency. These technologies are not only transforming the way we communicate but also enabling new and innovative applications that were not possible before. The more the technology evolves the wider is the spectrum of new applications and services that can be enabled, the Metaverse in this context is a notable example.
The workshop aims to bring together researchers and practitioners from academia and industry to discuss the latest advances and challenges in multimedia processing and delivery at the edge of the network. The key contribution of this workshop is to emphasize the critical role that network aspects play in enabling high-quality networked multimedia services.
We welcome submissions that cover a wide range of topics related to multimedia processing and delivery, with an emphasis on the network aspects, innovative multimedia processing algorithms and solutions, Quality-of-Service (QoS) and Quality-of-Experience (QoE) evaluations, including but not limited to:
Design and optimization of edge networks for multimedia applications
Integration of edge computing and 5G&Beyond networks for multimedia services
Resource allocation and management for multimedia applications
Quality-of-Service (QoS) and Quality-of-Experience (QoE) for multimedia services
Security and privacy issues in multimedia processing and delivery
Energy efficiency of multimedia application running at the edge
Multimedia solutions for the Metaverse
Submissions will be evaluated based on their originality, significance, technical soundness, and relevance to the workshop's themes. Accepted papers will be included in ISCC 2024 proceedings.
The workshop includes the assignment of a best paper award (only the glory).
Submit your original review manuscripts of up to 7 pages, including tables, figures, and references, in IEEE's double-column format. Manuscripts shorter than 6 pages are also welcome. Prepare your submissions using the templates available at IEEE Manuscript Templates and submit them directly via EDAS. Accepted papers up to 6 pages will be published at no additional charge, while pages beyond this limit will incur extra fees.

Author's guidelines
Submission Guidelines
Workshop manuscripts should describe original work and should be no more than 6 pages in the IEEE double-column proceedings format, including tables, figures and references. To download manuscript templates for IEEE conference proceedings use the following link: https://www.ieee.org/conferences/publishing/templates.html.
Papers can be submitted directly to EDAS: https://edas.info/N32317
Note that accepted papers up to 6 pages will be published with no additional charge. Exceeding pages will be charged an additional fee. Papers exceeding 7 pages will not be accepted. At least one author of each accepted paper is required to register to the conference and present the paper. Only registered and presented papers will be published in the conference proceedings. Accepted papers will be included in the ISCC 2024 proceedings and will be submitted for inclusion to IEEE Xplore. The ISCC proceedings have been indexed in the past by ISI, DBLP and Scopus. This makes the ISCC conference one of the publication venues with very high visibility and impact in both Computer and Communications areas.
