"At this time only Senior Prom has been approved to commence with the following safety protocols in place. If all protocols can not be met at the scheduled venue, permission will be denied.
Proms should be scheduled with the understanding that the COVID-19 pandemic is still a fluid situation. Last minute cancellations due to current state and local restrictions are beyond Garland ISD control.
In the event of increased COVID-19 activity or if proms are proven to be mass spreading events, additional proms may need to be cancelled. All cancellation decisions will be made in conjunction with the assistance of our local health authority.
Only students from GISD high school campuses are allowed to attend. Guests from other districts are not permitted to attend.
For students attending, from another GISD campus, the following protocols must be implemented:
Student must be in good standing.
Student must have been invited by a senior.
A form must be completed gaining permission from the guests home campus principal.
A list of students must be kept and clearance obtained by the students home campus nurse the day before the event. This will ensure not on quarantine status.
Ride sharing should be discouraged as this is considered high risk exposure.
Hand sanitizer to be used upon entrance and located throughout the venue.
Masks to be worn at all times, except for when eating or drinking.
Eating and drinking should only occur while seated at an assigned table.
Students will remain distanced from each other as much as feasible. However, they are allowed to dance with their guest. Dancing couples should socially distance from other dancing couples.
Pre Screening procedures:
Upon arrival all participants will be screened for COVID-19 symptoms.
Student failure: Parent of student will be notified. Students will not be allowed entrance. Health Services should be notified.
Chaperone/Staff failure: Chaperone/Staff will not be allowed entrance. Health Services should be notified.
If a member of the party rode in the same vehicle as the person that failed the screening, the entire party will be excluded from attending.
Capacity
The venue should not exceed 50% of their capacity. The number of people allowed in attendance should include all staff, chaperones, and students.
Venue
Only outdoor venues are permitted.
Food
Snacks and beverages are allowed to be consumed. However, the following guidelines must be utilized:
Only prepacked food, no buffet.
No self serve options.
Students should not be assigned the task of serving other students
Seating
Chairs should be spread out as much as possible. Example:
Tables that seat 10 should be brought down to 6 or 8.
Tables that seat 8 should be brought down to 4 or 6.
Students and guests may be seated side by side, but there should be a gap between the next couple. For those with single tickets, they should also be separated.
Seating charts must be kept for COVID-19 tracing purposes.
