Dr. Yamin Yan received the B.E. degree from Wuyuzhang Honors College in Automation, Sichuan University, Chengdu, China, in 2013, and the Ph.D. degree from the Department of Mechanical and Automation Engineering, the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK), Hong Kong, in 2017. She worked as a Research Associate at the University of Newcastle, Australia, from 2018 to 2021. She is currently a Research Assistant Professor at the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering/ the CKS Robotics Institute, the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST), as well as an Adjunct Lecturer at the University of Newcastle. Her research interests include networked systems and control, cyber-physical systems, and security control. She has served as an Associate Editor for IEEE Control Systems Society Conference Editorial Board since 2023. She was a selected participant in the 2022 Asian Deans' Forum-The Rising Stars Women in Engineering Workshop. She is also a recipient of the 2022 Royal Society International Kan Tong Po Visiting Fellowship, the 2019 Future Women Leaders Conference Award for women in STEM from Monash University, Australia, the 2019 IEEE International Conference on Control and Automation (ICCA) Best Paper Finalist, and 2017 CUHK Faculty Outstanding Tutors Award.
Prof. Li Qiu received his Ph.D. degree in electrical engineering from the University of Toronto in 1990. After briefly working in the Canadian Space Agency, the Fields Institute for Research in Mathematical Sciences (Waterloo), and the Institute of Mathematics and its Applications (Minneapolis), he joined Hong Kong University of Science and Technology in 1993 and worked there until very recently. In 2023, he started working in Southern University of Science and Technology, Shenzhen. Prof. Qiu’s research interests include system, control, optimization theory, and mathematics for information technology, as well as their applications in manufacturing industry and energy systems. He is also interested in control education and co-authored an undergraduate textbook “Introduction to Feedback Control” which was published by Prentice-Hall in 2009. He served as an associate editor of the IEEE Transactions on Automatic Control and Automatica. He was the general chair of the 7th Asian Control Conference, which was held in Hong Kong in 2009. He was a Distinguished Lecturer from 2007 to 2010 and was amember of the Board of Governors in 2012 and 2017 of the IEEE Control Systems Society. He was the founding chairperson of the Hong Kong Automatic Control Association and a vice president of Asian Control Association. He is a Fellow of IEEE and a Fellow of IFAC.
Ling Shi received the B.E. degree in electrical and electronic engineering from Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Kowloon, Hong Kong, in 2002 and the Ph.D. degree in Control and Dynamical Systems from California Institute of Technology, Pasadena, CA, USA, in 2008. He is currently a Professor in the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering at The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. His research interests include cyber-physical systems security, networked control systems, sensor scheduling, event-based state estimation, and exoskeleton robots. He served as an editorial board member for the European Control Conference 2013- 2016. He was a subject editor for International Journal of Robust and Nonlinear Control (2015-2017), an associate editor for IEEE Transactions on Control of Network Systems (2016-2020), an associate editor for IEEE Control Systems Letters (2017-2020), and an associate editor for a special issue on Secure Control of Cyber Physical Systems in the IEEE Transactions on Control of Network Systems (2015-2017). He also served as the General Chair of the 23rd International Symposium on Mathematical Theory of Networks and Systems (MTNS 2018). He is a member of the Young Scientists Class 2020 of the World Economic Forum (WEF). He is an IEEE Fellow.
