Nexi is a location-based social discovery platform that allows users to find nearby users and interact through public rooms and shared content. Your privacy and safety are important to us.
This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have when using Nexi.
By using Nexi, you agree to this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect
We collect only the information necessary to operate Nexi’s core features.
A. Account Information
When you sign in using Auth0 (Google or email), we collect:
Name
Email address
Profile photo (optional)
Auth0 user ID
We do not store passwords.
B. Location Information
Nexi is a location-based discovery platform. Location access is optional and fully controlled by you.
We collect precise location data only when:
You manually turn ON the location sharing toggle.
Location data is used to:
Show nearby users
Enable distance-based discovery using a radius filter (e.g., within X meters)
Display relevant nearby rooms
We do not:
Track your location when the toggle is OFF
Track your movement history
Show your live location inside rooms
Display your home address
A persistent notification is shown whenever location sharing is active.
C. Rooms & Room Location Data
When you create a room:
We store the exact map location you select
We store room name, description, posts, photos, and videos
Important clarification:
The room location represents the fixed location you chose, not your live or personal location.
Rooms are visible to other users at the selected location.
D. User-Generated Content
We store content you choose to share, including:
Posts, photos, videos
Messages between users
Comments and reactions
Rooms you create
Messages are stored securely and accessed only if reported for safety or required by law.
E. Technical & Analytics Data
Nexi does not intentionally collect:
Time spent on app sections
Feature usage analytics
Behavioral tracking data
If Google Analytics or crash-reporting tools are enabled, they may collect limited technical data (such as device type or OS version) under Google’s own privacy policy.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information only to operate Nexi’s features:
Enable location-based user discovery
Allow users to create, join, and interact in rooms
Display content shared by users
Maintain safety and prevent misuse
Respond to reports and moderation requests
Authenticate users and maintain accounts
We do not sell user data or use it for advertising.
3. Location-Based User Discovery (In Detail)
When location sharing is enabled:
You can discover users near you
You can control discovery using a distance filter
Other users see you only while your toggle is ON
Other users do not see:
Your exact home location
Your movement path
Your location history
You may disable location sharing at any time.
4. Rooms & Community Features (In Detail)
Rooms are public spaces created by users or admins.
When creating a room:
You choose a location on the map
That location becomes the room’s fixed position
Rooms should be created only in public or non-private locations
Rules:
Rooms must not target private homes or individuals
Rooms violating privacy or safety rules may be removed
Rooms remain available unless the creator deletes their account or the room is removed for moderation reasons
5. How We Share Information
We share data only with essential service providers:
Auth0 – user authentication
Parse Server + MongoDB – data storage
Hosting provider (e.g., Render) – backend services
We do not share personal data with:
Other users
Property owners
Advertisers
We may disclose information if legally required by authorities.
6. Data Security
We use reasonable security measures, including:
Encrypted communication (HTTPS)
Secure databases
Restricted internal access
Report-based moderation
7. Account Deletion & Data Removal
When you delete your Nexi account:
All your data is permanently deleted, including:
Rooms you created
Posts, photos, videos
Messages and interactions
Deleted data cannot be recovered.
8. Children’s Privacy
Nexi is not intended for users under 16 and above years of age (or the minimum legal age in your region). Accounts violating this rule will be removed.
9. Your Rights & Controls
You can:
Enable or disable location sharing
Edit or delete your content
Delete your account
Contact us with privacy concerns
10. Reporting, Safety & Moderation
Nexi provides reporting tools to help keep the community safe. Users may report rooms, posts, messages, or other content that they believe violates our rules, including misuse of location, harassment, or privacy concerns.
When content is reported:
We may review the reported content only, along with related metadata, to determine whether it violates our policies.
Private messages are accessed only if they are reported or if required by law.
We do not actively monitor user content.
We do not disclose the identity or personal information of the reporting user or the reported user to other users or third parties.
If content is found to violate our rules, we may take actions such as hiding or removing the content, restricting features, or suspending the related account.
Reporting is used strictly for safety, moderation, and compliance purposes.
11. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Continued use of Nexi means you accept the updated version.
