  • Wisconsin Snobirds Day at the Dog Track "Canceled". Due to the passing of a Law just passed in Florida, the Dog Track can no longer be an active racing activity. The Humane Society I'm sure brought this to the attention to the public that it was not humane for the dogs to go through the process of racing.

The finishing holes are usually to the right or left of the fairway or green and are much larger to accommodate a soccer ball. It is played the same way as golf except you use a soccer ball. When we play, we always have a scramble. Everyone kicks, pick the best shot and move on. It is really fun and requires little skill. It costs only $10 if you walk and an addition $12 for two people sharing a cart. We have three dates set up, January 19th at 10 am, February 9th at 1 pm and March 2nd at 10 am. All are on Saturdays. Are you interested in a little inter-club tournament or would you just like to join us for some fun. CONTACT: Lynn Wilhelm at lynnwilhelm@gmail.com

The first work day has been scheduled at The Little Zoo That Grew, for Thursday the 10th of January at 8:30 AM at the NEW ZOO. When you arrive at the zoo go thru the big gate and turn left, go to the large building about 200 ft down the drive. See location on map at page 4 of the New Zoo Master Plan document (PDF).

Please RSVP to Kenn if you can work that day.

Joey assured me that there would be plenty of supplies. You really only need to bring a battery screw driver if you have one.

  • Snowbird Magazine. Did you know that the "Snowbird Magazine" can be delivered via your inbox? Snowbirds Gulf Coast has served the northern Gulf Coast in print form since the 2006-07 season and launched "Seasons" e-newsletter a couple of years ago. This is provided in PDF form so you see the pages exactly as you would in print! Magazine publisher Karen Harrell has requested that club members sign up for the e-newsletter which not only gives an early look at the print but helps her as she navigates the changing media world to meet advertiser criteria that seeks digital reach. The print publication continues to be a popular "pick up" item among Snowbirds and locals alike and her intention is to continue to print as long as advertisers support the costs. The publication is distributed free. Harrell also added a Snowbirds Gulf Coast Facebook page a couple of years ago so go give it a "Like." Email addresses are never sold. Follow this link for the signup page: https://snowbirdsgulfcoast.com/enewsletter.

Snobirds:

Below is a press release about your Wisconsin Snobird club. This money is from the Angel Tree collections at our meetings. Thanks to all that donated. Thanks to Nancy and Gary Durgin for chairing the Angel Tree..

Kenn

The Wisconsin Snobird Club gave $1,725 to the Baldwin County Foster Children Program in the form of Walmart gift cards. There are 191 children in the program this month and the older children in the program will use the cards to buy Christmas gifts for themselves. Published photo shows Gia Coleman and Tina Green, Program Supervisor, accepting the cards from Gary Durgin. (Photo credit Nancy Durgin)

From Kenn,Those of you that attended the 2018 club picnic may remember that a company was there to shoot video of our picnic and to interview a couple of Wisconsin Snobirds. The Snowbirds are Chuck and Tina Swain and Tina's sister Cindy Spangler. Tina and Cindy's mother was a founding member of our club. I have received the finished copy of the video. It is called CoastAL Triangle Episode 2 - The Shift Change - coastal Alabama is Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, and Foley . Please enjoy the video and share it with your friends.
