About the Podcasters:

Andy and Steven tour the entire run of the new universe

Andy is a chemist and teacher living in New York hoping to run into Mark Hazzard some day at a baseball game.

Favorite comic book series: While it has probably changed over the years, at this point probably the X-men. I say that not even reading the current published version of them, but the original Claremont run of X-men and their spin offs are exactly the kind of thing I'm looking for in reading comic books.

Favorite New Universe main character: This is hard to answer, but if I had to pick one I would say Ken Connell Star Brand. I really want to like Jenny Swensen more, Tensen is awesome and Mark Hazzard would probably be my second favorite but I really like the bumper-straightening everyman Ken.

Favorite New Universe series: I may change this, as of this writing I have not gotten past the issue 11's but I'm going to go with Star Brand issues 1-7, as I consider the rest of it to be fan fiction of varying quality. :)

Favorite minor New U character: There are so many good ones, but you've got to love no good scientist brother Steve Magniconte from Kickers Inc. Closely followed by "Big Brigitte" from Spitfire and the strong arms (also Spitfire).

Favorite single issue of the New U: As of right now....Still Mark Hazzard Merc #2. That is peak Mark Hazzard. Lots of great choices otherwise though.

Steven is also a chemist and researcher living in Pittsburgh, where he sees many UFOs

Favorite comic book series: I probably have the best memories of proto-Vertigo titles like the Grant Morrison runs of Doom Patrol and Animal Man. I was also big on the Legion back then, a great fusion of superheros and science fiction.  I have always had a fondness for the second-stringer and the startup line.

Favorite New Universe main character: Jenny Swensen and Keith Remsen were probably closer to my experiences, and Ken Connell has a slacker charm, but I still like Justice most as a character who has the whole world against him and never lets it stop him.

Favorite New Universe series: Two standard responses: DP7 was my platonic ideal of an over-wordy 80's superhero team, while Star Brand's open and casual style really aged well.  A well-done team book balances out the characters and storylines even if one doesn't become a breakout star, while a solo title can really get you into the head of the lead character.

Favorite minor New U character: She's not that minor but Lita Mercado really stuck out to me as a fun character that would have jumped off the screen in a movie.

Favorite single issue of the New U: Justice #9 with a hallucinatory Tensen just crawling over broken glass to do what he does best--kill someone.
