Privacy summary: New Tab Blocker operates locally in your browser. It does not send your browsing information, protected-site list or extension settings to the developer or to third parties.
New Tab Blocker is designed to stop selected websites from opening unwanted tabs, popup windows, blank tabs and external redirects. The extension is built to operate locally in the user's browser and does not use developer-operated servers, analytics services or advertising networks.
New Tab Blocker handles only the information required to provide its tab-control features:
Domain names and URLs for websites the user explicitly chooses to protect.
The user's protection settings for those websites.
Temporary tab identifiers and, where required for a selected feature, the URL of a protected tab so the extension can identify or restore that tab.
The current website URL when the user explicitly chooses “Protect current website”.
This information can constitute web browsing activity under Chrome Web Store policy because it includes website domains or URLs.
The information is used only to provide the extension's user-facing features, including applying protection to selected websites, blocking unwanted tabs and popups, keeping selected links in the current tab, and applying external-navigation controls chosen by the user.
New Tab Blocker does not use browsing information for advertising, profiling, marketing, analytics or any unrelated purpose.
Protected website names and settings are stored locally using Chrome's extension storage. Temporary protected-tab state is stored in Chrome's session storage and is used only while needed for the extension to operate. The developer does not receive or retain this information.
When a user removes a protected website, New Tab Blocker removes that website from its local settings and requests Chrome to remove the extension's site access for that website. Uninstalling the extension removes its extension storage according to Chrome's normal extension behaviour.
New Tab Blocker does not transmit browsing information, protected-site lists, settings, page content or other user data to the developer or to third parties. It does not sell, rent or share user data. The extension contains no analytics SDK, advertising SDK or remote tracking code.
New Tab Blocker may inspect link targets, form destinations and popup requests on websites the user has chosen to protect so it can apply the requested blocking behaviour. It does not collect or transmit page text, passwords, form contents, cookies, authentication information or personal communications.
Storage: saves protected websites and settings locally and maintains temporary session state.
Scripting: runs the blocking logic only on websites for which the user has granted access.
Active tab: allows the user to add the currently open website after an explicit interaction with the extension.
Declarative Net Request: supports the user-selected feature that blocks external top-level navigation from protected websites.
Tabs, optional: requested only when the user chooses the “Go back if it gets through” navigation mode.
Optional website access: requested at runtime only for websites the user explicitly adds to the protected list.
New Tab Blocker's use of information obtained through Chrome extension permissions is limited to providing and improving the extension's disclosed single purpose and user-facing features. The extension does not use or transfer user data for personalised advertising, retargeting, creditworthiness, lending purposes or unrelated profiling.
No developer employee or other person is given access to users' browsing information through the extension because the extension does not transmit that information to the developer.
The extension is packaged with its executable code and does not download or execute remote code. Because user browsing information is not transmitted to the developer or third parties, there is no external user-data transmission performed by the extension.
If New Tab Blocker's data practices change, this privacy policy and the Chrome Web Store disclosures will be updated before the changed practices are introduced where required.
