This Privacy Policy explains how NewsSearch AI (App) operated by Ricel Almirola (“we”, “us”, or “our”) handles your information on iOS and iPadOS. Contact: NewsSearchAI@yahoo.com.

2. Information we collect

We collect only what is necessary to operate the App:

2.1 User‑provided data

• Username (if you choose to log in)

• Your selected topics and preferences (e.g., haptics, theme, accent color)

• Saved articles you choose to store locally

2.2 Usage data

• Search queries you enter in the App (processed locally or sent to our news provider to return results)

• Non‑personal diagnostics/logs on your device (e.g., to improve reliability)

2.3 Content processed for features

• News content fetched from third‑party providers

• Text sent to our AI provider (e.g., article titles/descriptions or user‑provided text) to generate summaries or a Daily Brief

We do not collect sensitive personal information. We do not track you for advertising and we do not sell personal information.

3. How we use your information

We use information to:

• Display news and provide search results

• Generate AI summaries and Daily Briefs upon request

• Personalize your experience (topics, saved items, settings)

• Improve performance and reliability

• Process in‑app purchases via Apple (subscriptions)

4. Data storage and retention

• Most app data (username, topics, saved articles, settings) is stored locally on your device.

• We do not maintain a server‑side user account database.

• Requests to third‑party providers (news and AI) are transmitted as needed to fulfill your requests and are not stored by us beyond what is necessary for processing.

• Local data remains on your device until you delete it via “Delete Account & Data” or uninstall the App.

5. Sharing of information

We share information only as necessary to provide features:

• News provider: MediaStack (or other configured provider) receives request parameters (e.g., country, category, language, keywords) to retrieve news.

• AI provider: OpenAI receives text required to generate summaries or a Daily Brief.

• Apple: Subscription purchases and payment processing are handled by Apple. We do not receive your full payment details.

We do not sell personal information. We do not share data for advertising. Third‑party providers process data under their own privacy policies:

6. Sign in with Apple (if you use it)

If you sign in with Apple, Apple provides us a stable identifier and, on first sign‑in, optional name/email (if you choose to share). We store only the identifier necessary to keep you signed in (locally or in the iOS keychain). You can revoke access in device Settings > Apple ID > Password & Security > Apps Using Your Apple ID.

7. Notifications

If you grant permission, we may send local notifications (e.g., iRead reminders). You can change notification preferences in iOS Settings.

8. Your choices and controls

• Delete Account & Data: Profile > Account > Delete Account & Data removes locally stored app data on your device.

• Manage notifications: iOS Settings > Notifications.

• Purchases/Subscriptions: Manage via App Store > Apple ID > Subscriptions.

• You may contact us at NewsSearchAI@yahoo.com to request information deletion instructions or to ask questions.

9. Children’s privacy

The App is not intended for children under 13. If you believe a child provided personal information, contact us and we will assist with deletion.

10. International transfers

Our third‑party providers may process data on servers located outside your country. We take steps to work with providers that implement appropriate safeguards.

11. Security

We use industry‑standard measures to protect information in transit (HTTPS). No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure; use the App in accordance with your organization’s security policies.

12. Legal basis (EEA/UK users)

Where applicable, we process:

• To perform the service you request (provide news, summaries, subscriptions)

• With your consent (notifications)

• For our legitimate interests (improve performance and reliability)

We may update this policy from time to time. We will update the “Effective date” and “Last updated” above and post the new version on our website.
