Welcome back to all our families at Church Hill School.
I hope you have had an enjoyable and restful break, and for those who celebrated Easter, I hope it was a happy and special time.
We are looking forward to a busy and exciting term ahead, filled with great learning opportunities, fabulous sporting events, and a wide range of fun extracurricular activities. As ever, we value the strong partnership between school and home, and we look forward to continuing to work collaboratively with families to ensure that all our children have the very best learning experience at Church Hill.
Thanks Jo
Allergies and Healthy School reminder
As a reminder, we are a nut-free school to ensure the safety of all our children, so we kindly ask that no nut products are brought onto the premises. Following our recent Healthy Schools award, we are also encouraging families to consider healthier ways to celebrate birthdays. Instead of sending in sweets, you may wish to provide fruit or other healthy snacks, or perhaps choose to donate a book to your child’s class library as a lasting and meaningful treat.
Thank you for your continued support.
Smart Watches
For safeguarding reasons, we would like to remind all parents and carers that children are not permitted to wear smart watches of any kind in school. Devices with communication, recording, or internet capabilities present potential risks to pupils’ safety and privacy. If a child arrives at school wearing a smart watch, they will be asked to remove it, and it will be securely stored by staff for the duration of the school day. The watch will then be returned to parents or carers at the end of the day.
We appreciate your support in helping us maintain a safe and secure environment for all pupils.
We have so much to celebrate in sport!
Looking back to last half term, I would like to congratulate and thank all of the Year 6 children who represented Church Hill at the Barnet Tag Rugby Festival, as well as those who took part in the NFL tournament. Every child played incredibly well and stood out not only for their talent but also for their impeccable sportsmanship and positivity. Well done, everyone!
A big shout-out also goes to our girls’ football team, who took on Akiva in the East Cup semi-final. Although we didn’t come away with the win, the team left with big smiles and a real sense of pride in what they have achieved this season. Watch this space—we will be arranging more fixtures with local schools to keep girls’ football going strong!
We also had our Year 1 and 2 boys’ football festival last half term, where seven of our youngest footballers competed against several other Barnet schools. They played some fantastic games and showed that the talent at Church Hill starts from a very young age.
Our incredible netball team officially won their league and brought home gold medals! After winning game after game over the first two terms, they truly deserved to be crowned champions. They then travelled to Copthall Secondary School to face the winners of the other Barnet leagues for the overall title. As always, the children were incredible—playing like true professionals and finishing in an amazing second place. To be second across all Barnet schools is a fantastic achievement, and they should feel extremely proud. Their determination, hard work, and enthusiasm are unmatched and a joy to witness. Well done!
Now, moving into the first week of the summer term—we have already been very busy! Seven of our Year 5 and 6 children represented us at the Barnet Bees Netball Festival, enjoying multiple matches and representing our school brilliantly.
Last but by no means least, today seven of our Year 2 girls travelled to Powerleague to compete in the Barnet Girls Football Festival—and there is only one word to describe their performance: INCREDIBLE! The girls played six matches, winning every single one and conceding just one goal. They scored freely, made fantastic tackles, worked brilliantly as a team, and—most importantly—had so much fun. We are so excited to watch them continue their football journey at Church Hill in the years ahead.
Finally, we would like to wish our boys’ football team the very best of luck in the Dick Bailey Cup semi-final this afternoon against Brooklands Junior School. The boys have been unbeaten in all cup and league games this season, and we are incredibly proud of everything they have already achieved. Well done, boys—and good luck!

Reception gardening topic: A small request from parents
Reception will be starting a gardening topic from next week and would very much appreciate it, if there any parents who have soil that they would be happy to donate for this new learning topic. If you do, then please can you bring this to the Reception class on Monday morning.
Thank you
