Occasionally, we include crops commonly grown in the home countries of New Roots farmers, such as African eggplant, amaranth, mustard greens, Thai pumpkins, and more.

These crops are favorite staples enjoyed by our farmers. We include recipes from their families in our CSA newsletter, so you can make the most of these new veggies!

You can add weekly or bi-weekly eggs to your share at check-out, thanks to a partnership with Roots Charter High School! Located in West Valley, Roots is Utah's first farm-based high school. Their farm model teaches students through applied learning and solving real world problems. Through managing the provision of eggs to New Roots CSA members, students learn lessons in economics, quality control, commitment, and reliability. While Roots eggs are not certified organic, the birds move around the property in mobile “chicken tractors” and are fed high quality, high protein feed from a local source, in addition to weeds and garden scraps.

You may also have the opportunity to pay for additional add-ons throughout the season, such as pre-packaged foods from refugee and New American food entrepreneurs participating in the IRC's Spice Kitchen Incubator program. Stay tuned for such opportunities in the weekly CSA newsletter!
