NEW KISS - How I got in trouble

I was not a fan of "new KISS".
I thought Lick It Up was good, after that I wasn't a fan.
When I was on KRock once, I was asked what I wanted to hear and responded "the only thing better than a wet kiss is old KISS" and they cracked up.
James Lomenzo (White Lion) was with me and told them how I hate "New KISS", they asked me about it on-air and I stated "New KISS sucks, all they care about are bucks"
Little did I know I had a catchphrase to go along with 'Ah Yes Indeed'.
Patrons came up to me to say they liked it and people were running with it.
I started "NEW KISS SUCKS" chants and even wrote a song titled that for a 'Chuck Kaye and The IUD's' EP, a label talked to me about.
IUD's = Irresponsible Uneducated Dirtbags ... 80's were insane.
One day WSOU gave away L'Amour tix to the first person to name "What band Chuck declared sucked?"
On a night Ace played, 2,000 people chanted "NEW KISS SUCKS" ... it was fn glorious and then ...
Gene Simmons starts calling the club.
He never asked for me, but imagine that convo if he did ... lol.
He found out the club owners also managed White Lion ... HE HAD F'N LEVERAGE
I forget which owner or if it was their partner Rich that he spoke to, but this is what I was told ...
Gene called and said "If you don't stop Chuck from saying "New KISS Sucks", your band White Lion will never open for KISS" ... MoFo played his leverage to perfection.
George approached me and told me about Gene.
I listened and (believe it or not) stayed quiet.
After he was finished, he said "so?"
I replied "That's fn cool Gene called me by name"
George shook his head and said that Gene heard I said it on K-rock, on WSOU and a night Ace played and he also knew about me from Eric Carr but he didn't care about that (my next story).
I told George, I understood and for White Lions sake, I will stop, but ...
But ...
I already did an interview with Details Magazine where I told them to use that quote ... uh oh.
They let Gene know and Gene was not happy at all, but I kept my word and never said it over any mic again
The Details article came out and they used the quote ...
A year later White Lion opened for New KISS

I heard that New KISS sucked on that tour, but don't quote me ...

This is the story of CHUCK KAYE - "The Roar Of L'Amour": A man in dire health, who is "the conduit of altruistic intention" - Newsbreak.comChuck was diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation* on January 14th, 2020. After spending nineteen days (19) in ICU/Hospital, cardiologist determined he must have had A-Fib* for 5 years due to the severity. With an ejection fraction of only 10% (the amount of blood pumped out of a heart’s lower chambers each time it contracts), Chuck was not expected to live. After discharging 45 pounds of toxic fluid during that initial visit, Chuck has fought through homelessness, eviction and numerous ER/ICU/hospital stays and in April of 2025 (alone), he had three mini-strokes.
*Atrial fibrillation (Afib) is an irregular heart rhythm that begins in your heart’s upper chambers (atria).
