Church History

New Hope Missionary Baptist Church was founded on August 25, 1985 by the late Cecil Brown. The church started meeting at the Old Hoyle’s Orchard Packing House off of Bethlehem Road in Old Fort, NC. Floyd Vess donated land on Bat Cave Road and every member contributed to the construction of the new church building. The first service in the new building was held on September 28, 1986.

New Hope Missionary Baptist Church joined the Blue Ridge Baptist Association in 1985.

The first deacon board included: Tony Brown, Greg Davis, Hobert Whiteside, Larry Brown, Lloyd Vess, Tim King and Harold Robinson.

The church has had 3 Pastors: Cecil Brown 1985-2001, Ray Holland 2001-2010, Mark Lawing 2010-2016. Interim Pastor Bill Pate 2016-
