Newham Learning: History

The purpose of this group is to support middle leaders and teachers of languages. It aims to help them develop their knowledge and understanding of:

• The curriculum

• Subject-specific leadership

• Subject knowledge

• Subject-specific pedagogy

We are working closely with the Historical Association (HA).

Our offer has been developed in conjunction with the Historical Association (HA) to support our schools.

There are two types of session, those for subject leaders and those aimed at enhancing subject knowledge. Subject leaders meetings are aimed at subject leaders and coordinators and can be attended, regardless of the languages taught in school and will consider the leadership of the curriculum and approaches to the teaching of languages in school. The subject knowledge sessions are language specific and will have a specific focus each time. They will focus on developing both the knowledge of the subject that is required to teach it well, and also the subject-specific pedagogy required to teach the subject knowledge and disciplinary knowledge.
