Before we begin, make sure you have:
Your Cricut cutting machine (Maker, Explore, or Joy series)
A compatible device (Windows/Mac computer or iOS/Android mobile device)
Internet connection
Cricut Design Space™ app (download required)
Power cord & USB cable (if using a desktop)
Materials for your first test cut (included in the box)
Remove your Cricut machine from the box.
Connect the power adapter and plug it into a power outlet.
Turn on your machine using the power button.
On Computer:
Visit Cricut.com/setup
Download and install Cricut Design Space
Follow the on-screen prompts to connect your machine via USB or Bluetooth
On Mobile:
Download the Cricut Design Space app from the App Store or Google Play
Open the app and sign in or create a Cricut ID
Tap Set Up New Machine and follow the guided instructions
Once connected, your machine may update to the latest firmware. Don’t worry—it only takes a few minutes! Afterward, you’ll be prompted to register your Cricut machine for warranty and support.
Cricut Design Space will guide you through your first test project—usually a simple vinyl or paper cut. This helps you get comfortable with loading mats, inserting materials, and using the blade.
Now that you're set up, dive into thousands of ready-to-make projects, fonts, and images in Design Space. You can start customizing cards, labels, home decor, t-shirts, and so much more.
