The Internship Program at Newcastle High School combines classroom instruction with real-world job experience to help students explore future career opportunities. Students learn valuable soft skills—such as communication, teamwork, time management, and professionalism—while gaining insight into specific career paths.
Grades are based on attendance and performance at the internship site, classroom participation, weekly reflective journals, and a final project. Class times and credit hours vary depending on each student’s schedule and the number of hours worked.
While the goal is to match students with internships aligned with their career interests, placements are not guaranteed. This course is designed to help students better understand workplace expectations and prepare for life after high school.
Course Objectives:
Explore potential post-high school career paths
Develop essential soft skills for the workplace
Learn how to balance work responsibilities with personal time
