Rock the DOME on Friday vs. the Burns Broncs AND help us raise money for individuals in our community who are faced with battling cancer.
The 2019 Stateline Shootout begins tonight as the Dogies travel to Sundance to take on a strong Bulldog team. The JV will play at 4:15 at Sundance Elementary school while the Varsity will play at 7:15 at SHS.
Friday the Dogies will play host to the Belle Fourche Broncs with the JV game starting at 2:30 and the Varsity game is at 7:30.
Saturday Lead-Deadwood will be coming to town to battle the Dogies. The JV game will start at 12:00 and the Varsity game at 5:30.
The Dogies battled hard but lost the first game of their 2019-2020 season 53-67 at the Custer Wildcats. The Dogies got off to a slow start and trailed the Wildcats 18-6 at the end of one, in part due to Custer's run and jump pressure and 1-3-1 half court defense. However, they would battle hard the rest of the way and were only outscored 49-47 through the final 3 quarters. The young team was led by seniors Dylon Tidyman with 14 pts and 9 rebs and Peyton Tystad with 9 pts. Juniors Zach Purviance and Landon Engle chipped in 11 pts and 7 pts, respectively. Custer was led by junior Jace Kelley who scored 20 pts.
Helping Out: These young men and ladies spent two of their Sundays helping out our Senior Center with a clean up project.
Helping Out: These six young men took time out of their day to help 1st graders decorate the trees at the Newcastle Lodge.
A great time was had by all in the Dome last Saturday night! On the boys side, the Black Team won a close game over the White team 29-26 and were led by juniors Zach Purviance and Landon Engle. Freshman Lady Dogie Jaylen Ostenson defeated sophomore Slade Roberson for the three point title; this was a competition that saw all six contestants having a 4.0 GPA! In the team shooting competition, the team of seniors Bradyn Frye, Peyton Tystad, Sara Sweet, and junior Claire Beastrom claimed this year's bragging rights!
Be sure to come ROCK the DOME next Friday and Saturday nights for the Stateline Shootout!
The Wyoming North All-Stars defeated the South 100-80 in the annual WCA All-Star basketball game. Newcastle's Cade Ostenson scored 10 points in the game and was one of five players for the North in double figures.
Cade Ostenson was also selected to represent the North team in the Wyoming Coaches Association North/South All-Star Basketball game in Casper on July 20th. He'll be joined by Hunter Rouse (Kaycee), Ethan Price (Rocky Mountain), Davion McAdam (KW), Treyton Paxton (Riverton), Antonio Coando (Lander Valley), Tristan Bower (Sheridan), Aaron Thiele (Buffalo), Tyce Dahlberg (Buffalo), and Cody Thompson (Wright).
Cade Ostenson is trading in his orange and black (temporarily!!) for blue and silver as he has signed with the Dickinson State University Bluehawks to play basketball and run track. Congrats, Cade!!
Dogie senior-to-be Dylon Tidyman will be playing for Sacred Hoops basketball this spring and summer. Former Dogie Cade Ostenson played for the program last summer. Check out the website to the left for more information:

Cade Ostenson finished up a storied high school basketball career after the teams appearance at the 2019 State Basketball tournament. The extra two games that the Dogies got by qualifying for the State Tournament allowed him to finish his career #3 in all-time games played for the Newcastle Dogies with 92. He also went into the State Tournament needing 5 pts to pass Kade Ferguson's mark of 1355 pts (2006-2009) as the all-time leading scorer. He was able to do that in the first game vs. the Lander Valley Tigers (15 pts) and then furthered his record the next day vs. the Worland Warriors when he scored 19 pts. That gives him the all-time mark with 1384 career points scored. Congrats on a great career and a record well-deserved!
For the 8th time in the last 14 years, the Dogies were able to punch their ticket to the "Big Dance", making an appearance at the 2019 State Basketball Tournament. Unfortunately, the Dogies would lose two hard fought battles, one to the eventual state champ Lander Valley Tigers and the other to the eventual Consolation Champion Worland Warriors. The Dogies finished their season with a 13-12 record.
The Dogies wrapped up a great 2018/2019 3A East Regional basketball tournament. They placed 4th, earning a trip to the State tournament in Casper. The Dogies lost their opening round game to Torrington 61-55, but responded by beating Burns 67-38 and Rawlins 57-47 before losing again to Torrington in the 3rd/4th place game 58-56 on a buzzer beater.
The Dogies will take on the Lander Valley Tigers at 9:00 PM Thursday in the Casper Events Center.
