Read the following text about Steve Well’s trip to New Zealand.
My trip to New Zealand
My trip to New Zealand was incredible! After a fourteen-hour flight from San Francisco, my best friend and I finally arrived at Auckland Airport. We booked a package tour which gave us the chance of visiting the most amazing places in New Zealand. Our tour mates (actually new friends) came from all over the world and were really nice!
New Zealand is one of the smallest nations in the world with 3.5 million inhabitants. It is made up of several islands, most of which are really small.
Stunning landscapes with soaring mountains (the Southern Alps), active volcanoes, roaring rivers, peaceful lakes, rugged coastlines, green fields and lush forests, and unique wildlife make New Zealand a paradise for nature lovers. Outdoor activities, like skiing, boating, fishing, bungee jumping, mountain climbing, rafting, hiking, and surfing are very common in this lovely country because of its very impressive landscapes and pleasant climate.
The cities of Auckland, Christchurch, Wellington, and Dunedin all had their charms. I think my favourite was Christchurch, the most British of all cities. Dunedin has a strong Scottish influence. Auckland and Wellington are large modern cities.
Although New Zealand has some of the greatest trout fishing in the world, it is not possible to buy trout in a restaurant or food market! This ensures that the species is protected, and people can have all the trout they want if they want to fish for them!
The highlights of our journey included visiting a cattle farm, landing on the Franz Josef Glacier via helicopter, visiting Maori cultural exhibits and performances, and seeing the film locations of the epic movie trilogy “The Lord of the Rings”. We had mostly sunshine and a little rain.
New Zealand is the most beautiful country I’ve ever seen and I had the best experience of my life.
