My question is that how can i use Urdu keyboard in my android app?basically i am a beginner and using eclipse. i am making a book app in Urdu language. in which i'd like to add a search view through which user can search the contents in list view easily.but the problem is that i have made the app in Urdu language so i have to use Urdu keyboard for searching.so is there any easy way through which whenever user clicks on the search-bar Urdu keyboard appears to search ? i have tried to make custom keyboard but it is very difficult to make. and as per my research changing input language by force using java code is not recommended.

You need to make customized layout of keyboard in URDU (You can use unicodes characters for urdu in your layout file -font/chart.html ) Layout will contain key tags for each key. Each key tag will have label in urdu and unique keycode of your choice. Then you need to implement OnKeyboardActionListener interface and override onKey method. In this method you need to search for the view in focus (if it is not an EditText then abort). Then you need to executes an action based on the actual key code (which in this case is appending the corresponding urdu character in EditText). Hope this will help you

Seriously it goes against the standard used in arabic and farsi speaking countries who created a standard like qwerty to be used by both languages which urdu throws out and creates a new one which makes it harder for an urdu speaker to use.

I use to work a lot with the Urdu language in my office. I got some homework and I tried to type some Urdu in LibreOffice but the keyboard layout is completely changed. I can't find many of the symbols on the keyboard and there are some Urdu words on the wrong buttons.

I have 3 languages installed in my pc ENGLISH-ARABIC & URDU

while using english all keyboard shortcuts works fine but when i change the keyboard to arabic or urdu or any other language keyboard shortcuts such as ctrl+A, ctrl+C, ctrl+V and other common shortcuts stops working in photoshop cc...whereas they works fine with illustrator cc....whereas these shortcuts were working fine somedays ago...m not sure what went wrong and they stops working now ...plz help.

After trying multiple stuff, I figured out that keyboard shortcuts with the arabic language selected will only work if I had the "Windows Display Language" set to English (United States). The reason it stopped was because I had changed it to English (UK), because I use want the date format DD/MM/YYYY (THE RIGHT WAY, Obviously).

Tip: If you want to set display language to US and keep the regional format as UK without having 2 english keyboards, then just add it through the control panel (the old thing), not through "setting".
