I knew I wanted to do some sort of paneling combined with wallpaper, and envisioned three framed wall paper panels as a backdrop. The picture frame wallpaper backdrop is finally complete and I think it adds so much character, texture and just the right amount girly whimsical detail I was looking for.

Back before she was born, when we were deep into prepping her nursery, we put up this picture frame molding and painted the entire room Magnolia Home True White knowing that one day, this baby girl would likely develop quite a personality when we could later add color and pattern to further express it.

3. While my wallpaper paste set, I started marking the wall for the first roll of wallpaper. Use the tape measure to measure the width of your wallpaper. Then, mark that measurement on the wall with pencil from your starting point at the top of the picture frame molding rectangle.

13. Using your metal edge (in my case, a trowel), press the wallpaper firmly against the edge of the molding and cut the excess with a sharp utility knife. (Change the blades often to make cutting easier with each wallpaper strip.)

I love decorating my home with unique and affordable artwork. My latest DIY is easy, and cheap, and I was able to upcycle unused items in my home! This easy tutorial shows you how to make your own patterned photo mat using wallpaper samples.

It is a good idea to choose your photo or artwork for this project before you choose the wallpaper to give it a cohesive look. I chose a vintage watercolor painting of Paris for my frame and it works with the neutral colors in the wallpaper sample.

For this project specifically, I already owned the picture frame, wallpaper sample, and cutting board. I purchased the spray adhesive and a new Exacto knife bringing the total cost of this project to under $20.

The cost will increase if you purchase a brand-new picture frame. I recommend looking at local thrift stores to find cheap picture frames to use. Wallpaper samples vary in cost, but are usually less than $10.

Check out estate sales, antique stores, and thrift stores to find designer wallpaper sample books. I have found many of these throughout the years and it is a great opportunity to find vintage wallpaper samples that are one of a kind.

Hi, I'm Lindsey! Licensed Realtor in NW Ohio and a passionate DIYer! I love sharing DIY & home renovation tips to help busy families (and clients) create a functional home that brings them joy every day.

To brighten up the room for summer, I decided to spray paint the frames white and give the discolored mats a new look with tan grasscloth wallpaper remnants I found at a church rummage sale for $3.00.

Here is the easy tutorial showing how to cover an existing mat or even making your own basic DIY picture mat out of a mat board, piece of cardboard, dollar store foam board or even a piece of cardstock.

How to Do This: Simply cut out the wallpaper to the size of the frame and then cut the opening on the wallpaper the size of your existing photo. Instant impact for a small piece of art or a photo.

Such a cool idea!! I love the tip of wrapping books in pretty paper to use as risers. I always look for vintage books to do that but have a hard time finding them. Wrapping books I already own would be so easy!! Thanks for the ideas!

Step-by-step tutorial on how to wallpaper inside picture frame molding on the wall including the tools needed to apply the wallpaper. PLUS my amazing hack for cutting wallpaper around a window, or any trim!!

I have a vintage-inspired iron crib with the most precious bunny finials that I have been holding on to for decades and am handing down to my daughter for the nursery. So the wallpaper is the perfect addition to tie it all together.

Since this room is closest to the master bedroom it will be the nursery for all of her babies. She wanted a classic, gender-neutral nursery that will last through to the last baby and then eventually become her office.

Water-activated/prepasted is a good option, but I find that it tears easily when it is wet and sticks together. I also find that the paste pours out of the seams when smoothed onto the wall and creates more work. It is a fine option, but alos not my favorite, and avoid it if possible.

Unpasted is my personal favorite that I think is the easiest to install. This might seem kind of daunting, but with this kind of wallpaper, you brush the paste on the paper or the wall, which is what I like to do, and then hang your paper!

You do have to buy wallpaper paste and all the extra things for applying it. You have total control over how much paste is being applied. There is no water involved. If you mess up then you just take it down and apply more paste if needed to get it right. There is less margin for error in my opinion. It cuts beautifully once installed and you can get a high-quality print and usually the paper is usually thick!

On any wallpaper site, you can figure out how much wallpaper you need to order based on the dimensions of your space. I always order an extra roll just in case I need it!! If you find yourself short and need more wallpaper, the next roll may not be the same dye lot (tone) and you could have your new roll be lighter or darker than the original.

This retractable blade is the best for this kind of project since you need a new blade so often for the best finish. It is cheap (like a little over $1) and, do you see all of those little lines? If you press the blade at an angle on a hard surface the used section will snap off and expose a brand-new sharp section!

If you have a wallpaper that requires paste, I find it easy to cut right after you install it using your straight edge and a fresh blade. Be sure that you cut all the way through the paper in order not to tear it!!

I absolutely love the way that it turned out once I added wallpaper to the picture frame molding. It is, by far, one of my favorite projects! In different light the paint morphs and I love that about this color!

I want to use an iCloud photo album I created and shared with my husband as a screensaver on both iPads so essentially they are functioning as electronic photo frames. The benefit of using the shared iCloud album is that we can both add photos to the album straight form our phone and it's always up to date.

Hi. An iPad doesn't actually have a screensaver function. It is designed to sleep when not in use, preserving both battery and screen. You can, of course, activate a slideshow from the Photos app, but that would require manual actions to enable it.

Thanks for your response Diana. The battery isn't really an issue for us because as I mentioned, it would be playing the photos when on the charger. I'm not sure what you mean by preserving the screen though? It would be good to have the option and leave it up to the customer to deactivate the screen saver it was an issue.

Also, I have just now tried to activate a slideshow for the album I mentioned, but it doesn't seem to load the photos? And when I am in the shared album, I can only see a small number of the photos that are actually in there even though it says it has 78 photos (the rest are just blank icons?) Any ideas? I believe the album sits in iCloud (hence both of us being able to add to it), however, it's not very useful if it takes forever to see content in it.

When I hit snooze on my phone the next morning, I smiled. Smiling back at me was my middle child, Tess, proud of herself for independently holding a Di Bruno Bros bag full of cheeses and meats, our haul for a picnic lunch at our park down the street later that day.

The closest Android equivalent without having to download a third-party app is the Screen Saver feature in Settings. It cycles through select images or photo albums when charging, turning your Android phone into a digital photo frame.

I fell in love with this wallpaper and wanted to create a piece of art with it. Adding wood to the back and trim for the frame makes it a custom removable piece that is flush with the wall. Years ago I did this for a client and it turned out beautifully. (You can see details on that project here: Elmhurst Living Room)

The beaded trim is painted the same color as the wall (Benjamin Moore Silver Cloud) to give it a seamless look. We are using this same trim for the frame for the TV (coming soon) and as an accent on the mantel.

**UPDATE** Linking a few items that I am frequently getting asked about ? I LOVE the wall sconces but they have since been discontinued. I will include a few similar options. As always reach out with any questions!

Hi Connie, thank you for your comment! The cord hides behind the panel but the plug would be too thick in the outlet to cover it. A bench, baskets, or sometimes a small ottoman hides the outlet so it is out of sight. However, when designing this, we knew once our baby started moving we could easily tuck the cord behind the panel if needed ?

This is a really easy home decor craft that repurposes trash into something useful. Not only does the DIY picture frame look great, but you have the satisfaction of knowing that it is made from upcycled materials.

Step 3: Next, place the frame box lid onto the wallpaper sample and cut it to fit. You want enough wallpaper to cover the front of the box lid and the sides. Plus a bit of overhang to secure it to the back of the lid.

Step 4: Next, using a box cutter, cut the wallpaper in the hole along the diagonal. Cut from the top left corner to the bottom right corner. And then again, from the bottom left corner to the top right corner.

Step 6: Next, to hold your pictures in place, make an envelope pouch for the back. To do this cut a piece of card slightly larger than the picture frame hole. Then tape this card on three sides over the back of the hole. The photo can then easily just slip in and out of the pouch.

Step 7: I wanted to give the handmade photo frame an aged look. To do this, I first painted the wallpaper with chalk paint, to give it a nice matte finish. I then rubbed a small amount of silver Rub N Buff on some of the raised edges. 152ee80cbc
