New Hope Missionary Baptist Church was organized in 1887 with twelve charter members and Elder George Rowe, Pastor.
Among the first members were James Spurlin and his wife, Sarah. They donated the acre of land on Shady Grove Road for the construction of the church building. He owned a sawmill and cut the lumber for the original building. That building stood until 1975, when the present building was erected.
The church began half-time preaching in 1938. Sunday School rooms were added in 1939. Full-time preaching began in 1942. More important than events and dates is the truth of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. New Hope Missionary Baptist Church continues the unchanged proclamation and practice of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, not because of tradition, but because it is the Word of God.
New Hope MBC, pastored by Tom Brown, still stands, unaltered by the world, and continues, by the grace, mercy, and enabling of God by the Holy Spirit, to preach, teach, and practice the Word of God.
