Mr. Simpson is excited to be a part of the Fine Arts team here at Iowa Colony High School. This is his 15th year in Alvin ISD and his 19th year in education. Previous teaching experience includes positions at Ridge Point High School, Deer Park High School, Heights High School and at Alvin High School where he served as both a teacher and the Chair of the Fine arts Department. As a director Mr. Simpson has had the good fortune of directing One-Act plays that have appeared at the Area contest 5 times. He is thrilled to be founding Artistic Director of NEW GROUND THEATRE here at Iowa Colony High School and is looking forward to building on past success.
Mr. Simpson continues to work professionally as an actor and director. Locally he has worked at most of the professional theaters in Houston and has been fortunate enough to have appeared in no less than 4 productions named ‘Best Play” by the Houston Press Theatre Awards. About his work onstage the Houston press has said-
“Simpson has been and continues to be one of the finest, most watchable actors on the Houston stage.”
Mr. Simpson is a proud member of Actor’s Equity Association, but his favorite role continues to be husband to wife Ivy and father to his kids Billie and Sterling. Blaze The Trail!
Mr. Gonzalez is grateful to be returning for his second year teaching at Iowa Colony High School. Born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley, Mr. Gonzalez moved to Houston in 2020 to attend the University of Houston and major in Theatre with a concentration in Education. While attending, Mr. G performed, directed, and designed for several shows, in addition to working around the Houston theatre community with companies such as Houston Grand Opera, Houston Shakespeare Festival, and Stages Repertory Theatre. After graduating in 2024, Mr. G began his first year teaching as a Pioneer here at ICHS. This year, he’s excited to direct one of the Fall shows, in addition to the annual musical! Outside of school, Mr. G likes to cook, tend to his many plants, play music, swim in various bodies of water, and spend time with his cat, Romeo.
