Welcome!
Thank you for visiting my personal page!
I am an Associate Teaching Professor at Carnegie Mellon University, where I also serve as the Coordinator of the Arabic Studies program (2024-2027). My journey at CMU began in 2012 as a French instructor, but my passion for Arabic language and culture soon led me to help develop the university's Arabic program.
My faculty Teaching position started in Fall 2022. I authored a comprehensive first-semester online Arabic curriculum, which begins with teaching the Arabic writing system and integrates Modern Standard Arabic with Egyptian and Levantine dialects, audio-visual media, alongside a dive into Arab culture.
My scholarship is positioned at the intersection of literary cultural studies and indigeneity in the Arabic-speaking world. My publications investigate issues of social justice, diasporic memory, and food cultures, focusing on the role of minorities in the history of the Middle East and North Africa. This research is complemented by a pedagogical interest in experiential learning and the effective use of technology in the language classroom.
