This game is called Strame.
made with my friend Henry off and on over the course of five years.
Maneuver the main menu with the arrow keys and select a mode by pressing enter. If you click the vibrating man in the top-right corner that will initiate an additional mode.
At any point you can press 'R' to restart the game and send it back to the main menu.
The "AI!" mode is not fully complete yet.
The music in this game is randomly generated. If you hold 'M' at any point, some statistics for its speed and time signature will appear next to the mouse. It will be either muted or unmuted when 'N' is pressed.
Not all pieces that can be upgraded currently have upgrade sprites, but most do.
When in-game:
Attack Controls (units must be selected in order to use their attacks):
Soldier:
Can spawn Shield if you press 'S' and haven't attacked with this piece during the turn. Shield starts with 3 Health and takes damage for Soldier. If the shield is destroyed however, the piece that destroyed it can reactivate itself using the Death Mechanic. When Soldier has Shield equipped, it can only move 1 Tile per turn. Soldier can destroy its own Shield by upgrading.

Can upgrade.
At level 2, it gains one tile. At level 3, it gains one health. At level 4, it gains one damage.
Jof:
Jof takes one damage every time it attacks.
Can upgrade.
At level 2, it gains one tile. At level 3, it gains one health. At level 4, it gains one damage.
Miner:
Gold can be generated when the piece is selected by pressing 'W,' 'A,' 'X,' or 'D.' Alternatively, if no piece is selected, gold can be generated by pressing 'G,' which will then result in Miner being deactivated after gold is generated. The gold that Miner generates is not added to the team's gold until it reaches 1 and then resets to 0, so if Miner is killed while the bar is being filled, another Miner cannot generate less gold to add 1 to the team's total.
Can upgrade.
At level 2, gold production increases to 0.25 per turn.
At level 3, gold production increases to 0.3 per turn.
At level 4, gold production increases to 0.35 per turn.
Zed/Zombie:
When Zed kills another piece, he gains that piece's attacking ability. If the piece cannot attack, he gains the ability to attack in the four cardinal directions. He does not steal a piece's damage.
Cannot upgrade.
Blue Guy:
Blue Guy's damage is equivalent to his health, so the more damage he's taken, the less damage he will do.
Can upgrade.
At level 2, it gains one tile. At level 3, it gains one health. At level 4, it gains a 2x damage multiplier.
Skeleton:
Rather than having "Tiles," Skeleton instead has "Actions." These actions can be used to either move or attack, which means Skeleton can move twice in one turn, attack twice in one turn, or do one of each.
Can upgrade.
At level 2, it gains one action. At level 3, it gains one health. At level 4, it gains one damage.
Plague:
The Plague's attack poisons opponents, which means it does damage initially, and then does damage at the start of the next two turns. If a poisoned piece is next to another piece, the other piece will be poisoned, receiving the same amount of poison turns as the unit initially poisoned. The Plague itself cannot be poisoned.
Can upgrade.
At level 2, it gains one tile. At level 3, it gains one health. At level 4, it gains one damage.
Archer:
When you attack with Archer, hold the attack button down and release it at specific points to shoot it certain distances. The green bar will fill and lower while the button is held. While the bar is full, the arrow will shoot its maximum distance. While the bar is empty, the arrow will be fired one tile. Archer is spawned with three arrows, and it must pick them up in order to shoot them again. If Archer has already shot an arrow and it picks up another one, it will be able to fire again.
Can upgrade.
At level 2, it gains one health. At level 3, it gains one tile of range. At level 4, it gains one damage.
