Master's notes: Really beautiful shot in an intimate space. Lots of zooms, but a good amount of wider shots too with a very limited (almost nonexistent) amount of heads. The lighting in this theater really liked my camera and I know the show almost “by heart” so I think I followed the action as well as possible. My battery died during the last song, but it starts at the very beginning with only one drop out during dialogue.

Notes: Closing show! Or “rock concert” if you ask Christy Altomare. Yeah so this is a pretty obstructed video. Everyone was really excited so people were standing up, people were moving around, and honestly I had a little trouble paying attending to my viewfinder with all of the tears streaming down my face. Like Beetlejuice I would say it’s mostly like highlights, but all of the things that happen in the center part of the stage are captured really well and the video is DEFINITELY Christy centric. “Journey to the Past” is complete and gorgeous and you will cry. First act starts around when Anya meets Dmitry and the second act starts during “Crossing A Bridge.”

Master's notes: Previews! This is probably my most obstructed bootleg ever. When I could get zooms they’re pretty (and I’m really trying my hardest for both Sophia and Kerry - “Dead Mom” looks GREAT and is really consistent), but I would probably consider this more like highlights with how many heads keep popping up. I don’t love it, but you can keep up with what is happening and see the WILD effects they have going on here...which is good enough for now. Video starts at “Ready, Set, Not Yet” and is complete from there. And honestly this video (and this show) is worth it just for “Dead Mom.

Master's notes: Beautiful HD close-ups but some long drop-outs and quite a few obstructed scenes. The rake in the mezzanine at the Neil Simon kinda stinks and I'm pretty sure the ushers were playing flashlight tag with each other the entire show. but I began to care a lot less as the night went on Video is very Cher-centric...choreography in "Dark Lady" is captured beautifully, but for the rest of the show I was mostly focused on getting those Stephanie, Teal, and Micaela zooms. We start at the scene before "Half Breed" and when Stephanie tells everyone to stand up for the finale it's all over for my filming ability.

Notes: Innovative Demo Video In 2001, the team undertook a bold step to try to launch the show’s professional future: a full-length video demo that was produced and directed by Jeff Jackson and titled Frankenstein, The Musical. Staged over a four-day shoot in a rented Union City, NJ theater, the production starred Tony Award®-winning actor Shuler Hensley (Oklahoma) as The Creature and featured Broadway veterans Ivan Rutherford (Les Miserables) as Victor Frankenstein and Rita Harvey (Phantom of the Opera) as Elizabeth. The production was a hybrid of a film and a live show. Shot cinematically out-of-sequence with multiple cameras and without an audience, the show was nonetheless filmed on a single stage with traditional theatrical lighting. The final product was published on DVD in 2002, but only screened privately for potential backers of future productions.

Master's notes: My first Broadway video, unfortunately I had a tech issue and the video stops right near the end of Epic III. Act I has washout, it gets better in Act II, but I'm still figuring out how to film in professional theaters (they got some BRIGHT LIGHTS!!!) There are two heads seen on the side of the video during most parts as I am a mere five feet tall. Some performers get cut off by the mezzanine bar when they're at the front of the stage (especially Eva). But overall I'm really happy with how it came out! The only dropouts are inbetween songs (I really couldn't stop myself from cheering and clapping at this one).

Notes: A near perfect capture of this show's off-Broadway run. The first minute of act one is blacked out, but the show is otherwise fully intact with no blackouts and only slight washout on a few wide shots. There is no obstruction, the video is steady, the sound is excellent, and it's captured very well with the usual mix of wides, mediums, and close-ups. It's filmed in 16:9 and includes curtain call, encore, and playbill scans. Nice to see the understudies: Dan seems to play JD a lot happier in his craziness - very different from Ryan and later Dave. Charissa, who later became the principle Veronica, also has her own take on Heather Chandler.

Master's notes: Shot in 4K with a lot of close-ups. Camera occasionally wanders during dialogue, but it's generally good during the songs. There was some obstruction on the right side that I couldn't work around, but altogether most of the action is captured as the staging of the show puts everything major in the center. I am obviously not practiced yet in taking videos, but if you want to see facial expressions you haven't caught before it's a good boot. The cast is honestly on the top of their game.

Notes: Second preview. There was a technical difficulty announced by Mary Kate Morrissey right after where do you belong. They paused the show for several minutes then everyone reset and they restarted from a few minutes prior. First act does have some obstructions. The whole stage is usually visible just left side and bottom of screen are blacked out from a railing at times to varying degrees. Video starts about 30 seconds into each act. Second act is less obstructed with very clear beautiful captures of I'd Rather Be Me, World Burn, and More Is Better with great zooms. It was shot with high quality camera.

Other issues: Curly being out of the shot for most of The Surrey With The Fringe On Top; shakiness and my hands/playbill being visible during applause breaks because I had to clap; head obstruction during I Cain't Say No; some floorshots during Dream Ballet; mic feedback during louder parts; and random bits where I was focusing on the wrong thing/person due to shooting blind. There's also some parts where the audio cuts off for a second, doesn't perfectly align with the frames, or the video freezes or goes dark while the audio keeps playing. Notes: A lovely new show full of talented performers, and the lead women have a great rapport with each other. The staging is simple but effective, and the tiered sections help the action move seamlessly between scenes. A very nice capture with no blackouts and no washout. There is a rail that obstructs the actors legs when they come into the audience, but the action on the main stage is unobstructed.
