Personality:

• Nick has had a troubled past and has always chosen the wrong path. He is very down to earth but flawed individual with severe addictions to drugs, specifically heroin. This addiction often causes trouble for his family, who suffer because of this, his attempts to stop result in failure. During withdrawal he oftens spends time searching for drugs, even when its not appropriate and it can leave him to perform selfish acts, such as stealing medication from other people who need it more than he does.    

• Despite his flaws, Nick can be selfless and is very intelligent and quick thinking, such as being the first to realize that the infected aren’t infected, but rather dead and even stops his sister Alicia from going to visit her sick boyfriend Matt as he knew he would be already dead and most certainly attack her.  

• Also Nick suffers from an addictive personality and seeks out danger as a substitute for heroin or drugs in general.

BACKGROUND:

Pre-Apocalypse - Los Angeles, California

• Prior to the outbreak, Nick struggled with an addiction to drugs, and was in and out of rehab many times. He had a difficult relationship with his father, who he believed had become distant and was no longer fulfilling his duties as a father. During this time, Nick was often living somewhere else than at home with his family. Possibly the abandoned church that became a junkie den.

• Nick met Gloria (his deceased girlfriend) in rehab and began a relationship with her.

• It was during one of these times in rehab that Nick’s father was killed in a head-on collision. The loss devastated Nick which led to his depression and relapse into his use of heroin.

Post-Apocalypse -

• The apocalypse is actually the best what could have happened to him. With limited accesses and resources it was bound to happen that Nick finally got clean by himself. His new high does he get from adrenaline rushes. Due to that he’s eager to be out there and explore. More often than not covers himself with blood of some infected to walk among them. Nick only uses weapons if he really has to.
