In order for us to deliver on our event promises, we need upfront commitment that you will be available to attend the event. We have a limited number of spaces and only a small margin of flexibility on the number of talks that can be delivered at an event.
If you are considering a conference or vacation at that time, please apply for the next NeuroLingo event instead. If something comes up and you absolutely have to drop out, please let us know as soon as possible. In the past, we have had to postpone events for this reason which costs us a significant amount of money and takes the opportunity away from other speakers as well.
It depends! Think of this as a TED talk rather than a conference presentation. Visuals or even audio clips (be creative!) can be a great asset to your presentation, but shouldn't be added just for the sake of it. Think critically about what value is added by your slides and, if you choose to use them, ensure you refer to them in your talk.
If you aren't sure, this is something to discuss in the training sessions!
Note that there will be a clicker and laser pointer available. Sometimes projected slides flicker in video recordings.
Videographers recommend wearing solid neutral colours (think black, white, grey, cream, navy). We recommend against bold patterns as they typically do not come across as well on camera. Think business casual and feel free to look at TED talks for inspo!
Note for those of you with long hair: it will need to be pushed or pinned back on one side for the microphone to prevent audio disturbances.
