Why should:
We endeavour to embody our research philosophy into our lab ethos. We believe in the unique potential of each individual and value the diverse perspectives they bring to the plate. While we value students with prior research experience, we also warmly welcome enthusiastic learners eager to delve into intriguing questions alongside us. Students from all academic backgrounds, whether in Computer Science, Mathematics, or other fields, are welcome to join our interdisciplinary pursuits and embark on this adventure with us.
As the mentor, I, Surya, am committed to providing you with ample opportunities to learn and grow. My goal is not only to help you acquire knowledge but also to cultivate a strong scientific temperament. This entails fostering and nurturing a deep passion for science and its inquiries, upholding integrity in seeking answers to scientific questions, executing research with care and patience, executing our endeavors meticulously and patiently, driven by a steadfast motivation and a broad vision, and approaching challenges with a positive mindset.
I want the motto of the lab to be based on the verse from Bhagavat Gita which states:
Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 6, Verse 5
उद्धरेदात्मनात्मानं नात्मानमवसादयेत् |
आत्मैव ह्यात्मनो बन्धुरात्मैव रिपुरात्मन: || 5||
uddhared ātmanātmānaṁ nātmānam avasādayet
ātmaiva hyātmano bandhur ātmaiva ripur ātmanaḥ
Meaning: Elevate yourself through the power of your mind and not degrade yourself. The mind is the friend of the conditioned soul and his enemy as well.
