We employed a multimodal framework combining human scalp EEG, MRI, intracranial EEG (iEEG/ECoG), in vivo electrophysiological recordings across animal models (rodents, cats, and non-human primates), biophysically inspired computational modeling and machine learning methods to systematically investigate:
1. Spatiotemporal origins of neural oscillations across cortical-subcortical regions.
2. Mechanistic regulation of oscillatory dynamics through local microcircuits and large-scale neural networks.
3. Functional-cognitive coupling – how neural oscillations contribute to cognitive functions.
4. Clinical translation – developing oscillation-based biomarkers for early screening, neuromodulation therapies, and neurorehabilitation in psychiatric disorders and other brain diseases.
