Organizers

Ezekiel Williams

Zeke is a PhD student in applied mathematics at the University of Montreal and Mila. His interests revolve around the application of method from probability and dynamical systems theory to develop normative theories of computation in biological and artificial recurrent neural networks.

Nanda H Krishna

Nanda is a PhD student at Université de Montréal and Mila. He is interested in problems at the intersection of computational neuroscience and deep learning theory.  He aims to use tools from dynamical systems theory and latent variable modelling to understand neural computation and learning.

Xiaoxuan Lei

Xiaoxuan is a PhD student at McGill University and Mila. She is intrigued by how intelligent behavior emerges from neuron interactions, either biological or artificial. She builds computational models of primate brains, mainly using artificial neural networks.

Avery Ryoo

Avery is a master's student at Université de Montréal and Mila supervised by Matthew Perich and Guillaume Lajoie. He is interested in studying the representations and dynamics within biological and artificial neural networks for the purpose of creating better AI algorithms and assistive neurotechnologies.

Mandana Samiei

Mandana is a PhD student at McGill University and Mila supervised by Doina Precup and Blake Richards. She is interested in reinforcement learning and developmental learning in the brain and understanding the role of memory in everyday life.

Raymond Chua

Raymond is a PhD student at McGill University and Mila supervised by Doina Precup and Blake Richards. He is interested in understanding how representations, episodic memories and mechanisms such as predictive coding and replay can motivate efficient hierarchical reinforcement learning and planning.
