Project Logistics
You are strongly encouraged to work in teams (of a maximum of 6 members), but you are allowed to work by yourself. We have provided some project pitches for you (you may choose one and modify it easily), but we will be happy if you propose your own projects.
You can find your project partners on Slack. We have created a #find-a-teammate channel to help you self-organize. If you have an idea for a project you want to work on, add a post with a short description of what you are interested in (available work hours, etc). If you want to join someone else's proposed project, post a reply to a proposed project indicating that you want to join. You can also post replies asking to learn more about the project. Once the project is full (with up to 6 people, but it can be less than 6), the proposer should reply indicating that it's full and tag all the people on the team so they can confirm their participation. After the team composition is confirmed, a group representative should register the project using this Google form. You should do that by Saturday, June 8, at 5 pm ET.
Tomorrow (Friday), we will check where we are with the teams. If some people are still looking to join a team, we can group them automatically (except those who strongly prefer to work on their own).
The deliverables of each project will be a max 7-minute video, in which all team members present the project and its results (you can take turns as you wish), plus either a poster or a short (max 3 pages) report. The deadline to submit those is Friday, June 14, at 9 am ET. You are also asked to submit a short contribution statement, along with the files, indicating who did what. The other team members will have to confirm that they agree with the contribution statement (you can use Slack for that). We will soon provide a link to a Google Form where you can submit the files of the video and the poster/report. All files will be made available to everyone through the course website.
Presentations will take place on Friday, June 14, starting at 10 am. We may use two parallel breakout sessions, to make sure we can feature all presentations within a reasonable time frame. After the last video of each session is played, there will be a Q & A session.
