Im having the issues where the Netflix app decides everything audio on its own and ignores systems settings. Muting the Netflix app does nothing Volume is way above what device is set to. Stops every other audio source. This includes notifications sounds untill the app is closed again. Spotify shoots to error even.

Is there any way to make the Audio and Subtitles settings in Netflix permanent? I hate having to set those every time I want to watch something on there. The WDTV box has these settings under Setup; is there no way for Netflix app to read those settings and apply them automatically?

Relatively few movies on Netflix are DD5.1 (mostly TV shows).Even HD is a small subset (relative) to the entire collection here. I was recently watching a mini-series of 12 episodes which was all HD and DD5.1 over several days, and never had to select video or audio settings.

I ran into a situation this past weekend where my Netflix screen would black out while casting my display to a TV. I wasn't familiar with Hardware Acceleration settings (and how it could've been impacting me) until a friend pointed me in that direction while I was troubleshooting. I tried more than a few Google searches and wasn't seeing any straightforward answers online for Arc specifically, so I figured I should post this in case anyone down the line runs into a similar scenario or needs to access these settings. I want to clarify that this may not be the first post about these settings, but there are some key words in my post's title that might help future users find a solution easier.

You can enable or disable Arc's Hardware Acceleration in the System settings page. It will prompt you to relaunch the browser after a change has been made. I found that after disabling and relaunching, I was able to share my Netflix screen (and enjoyed a season of ATLA in 3 days :D ). Hope this post helps avoid some heavier digging for someone else down the road!!

I have the same problem: can't change language/subtitle settings for Netflix Mexico. When I click on the centre button of the remote, it just pauses the movie/tv programme. Are you getting a language options menu when you click on the centre button?

I'm having the same problem here. However neither the center button nor the up button +select solutions work for me. Those options just pause a movie that has several language options on PS3. Are there any other options or settings that you changed?

The default settings should be fine but you can double-check them to make sure they haven't been set to a lower quality. Go to Playback Settings for the profile you want to watch with and make sure Data usage per screen is set for the target quality:

Following setting up this weekend all is working well, but when I tried to watch Netflix via Sky Q or a Smart TV it would not correct, citing the error message NW-2-5. In this case it does not get past the netflix front page and the red circle. Interestingly, when I tried netflix from an IPAD or PC it worked fine!

Note:  If Picture settings is not available in the Quick Settings menu, scroll to the right side of the menu, and then select Edit, then check Picture settings to add.

Note:  When the Netflix calibrated mode is set to ON, the picture mode settings become grayed out. If you want to select other picture mode settings, return to this menu to turn Netflix calibrated mode off.

when browsing Netflix shows on the X1 DVR --It starts playing the next episode -- even whne just trying to re description when still on screen that shows options For "episode 1" or "More Episodes" etc... Whay does the X1 box not recognize the Netflix settings to NOT AUTOPLAY ?

Of course everyone can use settings which he likes, but I personally from a professional perspective can just 100% recommend against using these totally random settings, that don't have any relation to standards and working Sony TV settings.

The whole colour settings that reduce red and push green in the Reddit settings make no sense as the xf900 is accurately adjusted when you get it already, you can see that on rtings and other tech pages.

Motion flow: by setting smoothness to maximum, you are creating the soap opera effect. This TV as capable of displaying 24fps like the movie was made to be. With a correct sync, the Sony TV already inserts blacks on a very good overall brightness scale. The correct setting here would be "real cinema" and "high" on the motion settings to get the 24fps mode.

So: set your black level to 47 or 48, turn on the lights in your room, dim them a bit, but not too much, go with the other DV HDR settings like they are set from Sony and if you really get a very washed out movie, increase the advanced contrast enhancer to medium. If you like a more colourful experience, set colour to 55. Done.

Hi @digitalray I saw people in the Reddit thread having a virtual meltdown about the settings seemingly without trying them and personally I found that a bit self limiting but yea I understand where you're coming from. The strangest thing though, the Reddit settings (minus that one Motion/Smoothness from Max to 3) really do look amazing on my TV for "most" series for example Snow Piercer (on Netflix) Season 1, but NOT Season 2 then the same settings look awful and full of noise, and then I tried your settings and they look fantastic, however if I try your settings on Season 1 I find faces are to dark (the annoying thing where a face will have half hidden in shadow) so I guess they must have filmed both season slightly differently.

For anyone reading this thread, my settings are for the XF9005 my apologies I've just seen that this thread is all about the Sony A1, sorry it was late and I did search "Best Dolby Vision setting Sony XF9005" to get here, damn Google

Hi Digital, I needed to comeback and get these settings again, somehow my Netflix was looking awful so reset the App to defaults and just did what you said below and wow the picture is absolutely stunning.

Do you need parental controls? What are the options? Do they really work? Here's everything you need to know about the wide array of parental control solutions, from OS settings to monitoring apps to network hardware.

You are then given two options to choose from: Automatic proxy setup or Manual proxy setup. If you want windows to automatically detect your proxy settings, choose the first option. Choose the second option if you want to utilize a specific ip address and port number.

"You have to change your Netflix settings to English not English CC. Here is a screen grab of that scene with English. (Screen is black cause they don't allow grabs but the subtitle comes through)," wrote @ADeVonJohnson.

How do I change my Netflix plan or account information?

You can change your Netflix plan at any time by signing in to netflix.com and visiting the Account page, then selecting Change Plan to view and select available plans.

Will my Netflix user settings carry over to X1 or Flex?

Yes. Existing Netflix customers who use their Netflix login information when logging in through the Netflix app on X1 or Flex will see their current Netflix settings.

Hill House on netflix in Dolby Vision is awful. The Black Levels are grey, the contrast is so bad like when you would turn up the gamma more than maximum, colors are washed out and i get such a huge light bloom effect that even goes over the movie cache areas.

i think there is definately a software issue here with netflix dolby vision as other hdr movies in google play run perfect. pitch dark blacks, high contrast, great colors, bright whites, no light blooming in dark areas, only with dolby vision on netflix.

I know this is an old thread, but I have the exact same problems on the sony ag8. Any dolby vision content looks awful. on the internal netflix and the xbox one x, especially dark scenes. As soon as switch it to HDR, the picture quality is so much better. I wish o could switch dolby vision off in the tv menu.

netflix offers a great speedtest ( ), served from its own content delivery nodes aimed at allowing endusers to assess how well netflix will/does work on their internet access link. IMHO this is really great, because here the goals of the party responsible for operating the measurement infrastructure and the goal of us end users to veridically measure our link's capacity is well-aligned. This means that this is an excellent tool for generating loads for bufferbloat assessments (the test will also report latency numbers, but not at the required/desired temporal resolution for buffer debloating yet (but Netflix is aware of the issue and is trying to come up with a solution that hits the common goal of keeping the test's report simlple and easy to understand for normal users, as well as our goal of getting more out of the latency under load probes that are measured as well)).

Mmmh, due to being "blessed" with only a 100/40 (effectively 100/31) link I do not see that ceiling, but I have a hunch that from netflix's perspective the reason for the test might not be veridical capacity testing, but merely whether a link is fast enough for Netflix highest plan with a little reserve, and 100 Mbps, would allow the 4 concurrent UHD (@25 Mbps) streams that their Premium tier seems to allow. I guess it is a blessing and a curses that Netflix uses the same infrastructure it uses to serve customers here.

However, after some exploring I found there were some additional setting in the tv's advanced sound settings that had not activated, ... I changed them to dolby digital plus and pass through and it seems to have worked! 2351a5e196
