I agree due to the enormous amounts of variations of rifles, muzzle brakes, ammo, dialing in the Speedtracker can take time and patience and I'm happy you were able to get it right because once you have it the Speedtracker really is an excellent tool in the tool box.

A speed restriction is an area in which trains are required to run at slower-than-normal speeds because of track wear and tear or other problems. Speed restrictions are put in place to ensure rider safety.

Line-wide speed restrictions apply across an entire line. Block speed restrictions are specific lengths of track that may include one or multiple defects that need to be investigated or mitigated. As each defect is validated and corrected, the length of the block restriction is reduced until the speed restriction is fully removed.

Hi,

after i imported a .mov video the playback speed is slower than it used to be. When i play the video in tracker it seems like slow motion. Before the .mov video i only used .avi videos with tracker. When i import an .avi video now it also seems like slow motion as well when i play it in the tracker software. How can I reset the playback speed to normal, so that the video plays in the tracker software like the original file?

My apologies if this is a stupid question, but i have been working on this for two hours now without finding a solution.

Mike--you are right that playback is slow. It's nearly always slower than full speed with the default settings ("play all steps") because Tracker doesn't display a video directly to the screen--instead, it converts every video frame to a Java image which gives it access to the RGB data at every pixel. It then applies video filters to the image and draws the result on screen. This usually takes longer than the frame time, so it's slow.

If you uncheck the Video|Play All Steps box then the speed will be normal, but it will skip frames and may look jerky.

Bottom line: Tracker is not a video player (and in any case never plays audio). It is a Video Analysis and Modeling Tool ;-)

What can I do if I'm not getting the speed I pay for? If results from FAST.com and other internet speed tests (like dslreports.com or speedtest.net) often show less speed than you have paid for, you can ask your ISP about the results.

Methods: Thirty-one healthy participants walked twice on a treadmill for 30 min while wearing 10 activity trackers (Polar Loop, Garmin Vivosmart, Fitbit Charge HR, Apple Watch Sport, Pebble Smartwatch, Samsung Gear S, Misfit Flash, Jawbone Up Move, Flyfit, and Moves). Participants walked three walking speeds for 10 min each; slow (3.2 kmh), average (4.8 kmh), and vigorous (6.4 kmh). To measure test-retest reliability, intraclass correlations (ICC) were determined between the first and second treadmill test. Validity was determined by comparing the trackers with the gold standard (hand counting), using mean differences, mean absolute percentage errors, and ICC. Statistical differences were calculated by paired-sample t tests, Wilcoxon signed-rank tests, and by constructing Bland-Altman plots.

Results: Test-retest reliability varied with ICC ranging from -0.02 to 0.97. Validity varied between trackers and different walking speeds with mean differences between the gold standard and activity trackers ranging from 0.0 to 26.4%. Most trackers showed relatively low ICC and broad limits of agreement of the Bland-Altman plots at the different speeds. For the slow walking speed, the Garmin Vivosmart and Fitbit Charge HR showed the most accurate results. The Garmin Vivosmart and Apple Watch Sport demonstrated the best accuracy at an average walking speed. For vigorous walking, the Apple Watch Sport, Pebble Smartwatch, and Samsung Gear S exhibited the most accurate results.

Conclusion: Test-retest reliability and validity of activity trackers depends on walking speed. In general, consumer activity trackers perform better at an average and vigorous walking speed than at a slower walking speed.

Our tracking system generates a consistent measurement of locomotion that allows direct comparison of results across experiments and experimenters and provides a standard method to share data between laboratories. The tracker utilizes a video camera attached to a zoom lens and a software package implemented in MATLAB. We demonstrate several proof-of-principle applications for the tracker including measuring speed in the absence and presence of food and in the presence of serotonin. We further use the tracker to automatically quantify the time course of paralysis of worms exposed to aldicarb and levamisole and show that tracker performance compares favorably to data generated using a hand-scored metric.

Although this is not the first automated tracking system developed to measure C. elegans locomotion, our tracking software package is freely available and provides a simple interface that includes tools for rapid data collection and analysis. By contrast with other tools, it is not dependent on a specific set of hardware. We propose that the tracker may be used for a broad range of additional worm locomotion applications including genetic and chemical screening.

We reasoned that a variety of studies would be enhanced by automated methods for measuring average speed and the fraction of animals paralyzed. Compared to observational methods, automated behavioral analysis is less susceptible to experimenter bias and is likely to yield results that can be compared across experimenters. As noted by Mahoney, et al. [15], several factors affect the reproducibility of aldicarb-induced paralysis assays, including the criteria used to score paralysis. For example, researchers are urged to assay all genotypes in parallel, which severely limits the number of genotypes that can be investigated. Our goal was to develop a simple platform compatible with a variety of digital video cameras and stereomicroscopes that could track tens of animals in parallel, extract key parameters of locomotion and replace observational measures of average speed and drug-induced paralysis. To facilitate wide use of the tracker in the research community, we chose to implement our tracker in MATLAB (The MathWorks, Natick, MA), a platform that is used in both science and engineering, to distribute the code freely ( ), and to foster further community-based development by creating an open-source project for it on SourceForge ( ). ff782bc1db
