2021-2022 Initiatives:

Mental Health:

We aim to incorporate two different initiatives (Mental Health Form and Mental Health Presentations) into our school to remediate the uptick in student mental health issues and provide students with resources and encouragement to recover from burnout.

Career Day:

We aim to hold a weeklong form of career day where each day we have information sessions, much like college info sessions, with guest speakers that students can sign up for.

Gender Neutral Bathrooms:

We aim to turn the high school bathrooms gender neutral, and adding free tampons, pads, and tissues in every bathroom: men's, women's and gender neutral. We would also like to create posters creating awareness about the resources we will have (gender neutral bathrooms, free period products, gender, and binder safety.

Cultural Exploration Day:

We aim to hold a cultural exploration day to raise school spirit and uplift culture clubs at NEST+m, giving them a chance to share their culture/identity and have a stage to do so.

Field Trips:

We aim to increase the chances for students to take trips and explore outside of the classroom, so we can bond as a community and grow as students.

Advice Forum:

We aim to create an advice forum that will act as a place where students can lodge any questions they have along with how best they have tried to tackle that question, where other students and student government leaders can help answer.

CPR Certification:

We aim to implement a CPR certification program into the Gym/Health classes and to put up choking safety posters up in every classroom used during lunch.

2021-2022 Achievements:

Gender Neutral Bathrooms: Made bathrooms more gender inclusive, spread awareness about the gender neutral bathrooms on the second floor and provided better menstrual products in the bathrooms.
Advice Forum: Provided resources for students seeking advice on high school.

Cultural Exploration Day: Hosted our first ever Cultural Day with a fashion show, potluck, workshops (such as Asian Representation in Media & School to Prison Pipeline System), restorative circles and cultural based games/activities.
Spring Field Day:

2020-2021 Achievements:

Saving the Electives Initiative: We used student voices to advocate for keeping the electives that were in danger of being taken due to remote learning.
Weekly Principal Meeting: Student Government has attended meetings with the principal for over a year. We make sure that important student concerns are brought to the principal every week.
Hiring Committee: Students have had the chance to help in the teacher hiring process for the past two years with this committee.
Advisory: Student Government fought to make advisory a part of the curriculum.
Peer Tutoring: created to give students extra support during remote learning.
College Alumni Program: Created to aid seniors with the stressful college application process by pairing them with alumni (+ we gained a college counselor and college office intern!). Juniors! Join the college support google classroom (code: o2gc4d5).
