Traveling by Train (MBTA Commuter Rail)

The Fall River/New Bedford Commuter Rail Line provides direct transit from downtown Boston into the South Coast region.

• Departure Station: South Station (Boston).

• Where to Get Off: Visitors can use either New Bedford Station (approx. 7 miles from campus), Church Street Station, or Fall River Station (approx. 12 miles from campus), as the university sits right between the two coastal cities.

• Travel Time: Roughly 75 to 90 minutes from South Station.

• Connecting to Campus: From the New Bedford or Fall River terminals, visitors can catch a local SRTA (Southeastern Regional Transit Authority) bus directly to campus, or grab a quick 10-to-15-minute rideshare (Uber/Lyft) to finish the trip.

Traveling by Car (Driving Directions)

The drive from Boston to the campus area typically takes about 60 to 75 minutes, depending on traffic, spanning a total distance of roughly 60 miles.

1. Leave Boston: Take I-93 South out of the city.

2. Head South: Take the exit for Route 24 South (towards Brockton/Fall River).

3. Transition toward the

 Coast: You have two straightforward highway routes depending on traffic:

• Option A: Stay on Route 24 South all the way down to Fall River, then take I-195 East.

• Option B: Take Exit 17 off Route 24 onto I-140 South (towards New Bedford), then exit onto I-195 West.

4. Arrive at Campus: From I-195 (East or West), take Exit 24 (formerly Exit 12) for Faunce Corner Road / Dartmouth. Head south onto Faunce Corner Road, which will cross Route 6 and turn into Old Westport Road, leading straight to the main campus entrance.

From 95 South:

 Driving Directions from the West (via I-95 & Providence)

    1    Navigate I-95 to Providence: Take I-95 (North or South) toward downtown Providence, RI.

    2    Transition to I-195 East: As you approach the city center, use the designated right lanes to exit the interstate:

    ◦    If coming from I-95 North: Take Exit 36A (formerly Exit 19) to merge onto I-195 East toward Cape Cod/Fall River.

    ◦    If coming from I-95 South: Take Exit 36A (formerly Exit 20) to merge onto I-195 East.

    3    Cross into Massachusetts: Follow I-195 East for approximately 28 miles, passing through Seekonk, Swansea, and across the Braga Bridge into Fall River.

    4    Arrive at Campus: Once you enter Dartmouth, take Exit 24 (formerly Exit 12) for Faunce Corner Road / Dartmouth. Turn right at the end of the exit ramp onto Faunce Corner Road heading south. Go straight through the commercial strip and cross the Route 6 intersection, where the road turns into Old Westport Road and leads straight to the main campus entrance.

Driving Directions from the New York City Area

This details the exact sequence of major highway interchanges and exit numbers from the Tri-State area to campus.

    1    Exit the NYC Area: Get onto I-95 North heading east out of New York through the Bronx, and cross into Connecticut.

    2    Follow the Connecticut Coastline: Stay on I-95 North for roughly 110 miles across the state of Connecticut.

    3    The Rhode Island State Line Split: Continue tracking on I-95 North as you cross into Rhode Island, passing through Warwick and heading toward the capital city.

    4    Transition to I-195 East (Providence Intersect): In downtown Providence, get into the right-hand lanes and take Exit 36A (formerly Exit 19) to transition from I-95 North onto I-195 East (signs will read: East Providence / Cape Cod / Fall River MA).

    5    Cross the Mass State Line: Stay on I-195 East for 28 miles, traveling over the Seekonk River and eventually crossing into Massachusetts through Somerset and Fall River.

    6    Arrive at Campus: Look for Exit 24 (formerly Exit 12) marked Faunce Corner Road / Dartmouth. Take the exit, turn right onto Faunce Corner Road south, and continue straight across Route 6 onto Old Westport Road to enter the campus.
