About the network

The NERA* network on Critical Race, Racism and Whiteness in Education brings together education researchers in Sweden, Denmark, Norway, Finland, and Iceland, working within the field of Critical Race, Racism and Whiteness in Education. The network recognizes the need for collaboration, knowledge exchange, theoretical development, and empirical research on race and racism within the Nordic countries. Critical Race Theory (CRT) and Whiteness Studies within education are internationally well-established fields but have been slow in developing in Nordic countries – delays that are partly due to a reluctance to engage with racism and coloniality in the Nordic context.
