The picture above isn't us. We are Public Health Registrars working around the North East of England. The programme is typically 5 years training and working full time in varied public health settings to achieve an ambitious set of educational objectives. The end goal is to qualify as Public Health Consultants with broad skill sets which can be applied to multiple issues and settings.
Everything about the way we live our lives, and where we live comes in the remit of Public Health, prevention and reducing inequalities. The work we do is varied, broad and develops people, technical, and self-management skills. Working for communities in the North East can be challenging due to generally poorer health, worse life expectancy, more deprivation, and resourcing issues. What we have going for us though is some of the most passionate practitioners you'll ever meet, and vibrant communities that are a pleasure to work with.
This website will give some insight into what applying and training in the North East can be like, and the sources of support available. The best thing about training in the North East is the peer-support. If you're interested in training here or working with us get in touch through our training programme coordinators.
We hope this website is useful for you, and a gateway to working with us in the future!
