Mathematics is one of the necessary concept and life skills that needs to be learned and understood by learners, especially the children as this included in the basic foundation of education
This concept in the Philippines has a goal to develop the critical thinking and problem solving skills of an individual. But with the recent study of DepEd (2019), it shows that the performance level of the Filipino students on Mathematics is on level 1; which basically means that it is on low proficiency.
Our goal to doing this activity is to help the children; specially members of salvation Army in Tanay, Rizal to further understand the basic mathematics with our knowledge as an Grade 11 ABM students. We aim to make mathematics a fun learning for the children of Salvation Army through (1) providing them supplies that they will need for school, (2) offering our help to widen their knowledge on the subject, and (3) to make it interactive as much as possible for them to enjoy.
After the conduct of this activity, we expect to see the children of Salvation Army enjoyed and understood the basic mathematics. As an ABM students ourselves, our experiences thought us that you'll need a strong foundation of basic math in order to understand the deeper lessons in higher grade levels. We hope that by doing something like this, we would be able to help them understand math and create a strong foundation of it.
If this project will be a success, we look forward to extending our helpti more children in Tanay, Rizal to better understand the Mathematics subject.
Nowadays, children are mostly concerned about their gadgets and tend to give more attention to watching online rather than studying.
The purpose of this project is to provide them learning supplies that they can use to gain new knowledge and to enhance their existing skills. This is to remind them about the importance of studying and to determine how far their learning is on the Mathematics subject. We will use learning materials to tutor children in different barangays in Tanay, Rizal and the Salvation Army as a start.
We need to ensure and equip ourselves with enough knowledge on the level of mathematics that we will teach. As well as, we need to have an awareness of the competency of the kids in Salvation Army. We can measure it by preparing a simple test or pre-exam before conducting the teaching process.
After having it, we plan to make at least 30 or more kids in Salvation Army. The approval of the kids is must before proceeding. The kids and the guardian shall agree to the terms & condition willingly and shall not be forced to participate. Whereby, term & condition, any selected kids that willingly participate in this free-learning aid on Mathematics should attend tutor time that will only be conducted during weekends (8:00 - 10:00), for 3 weeks, to ensure that there is no interference in each other school time.
Furthermore, for a great advocacy to be successful, we will need sufficient support and resources from all of the people to whom it may concern. We intended to raise any help by creating social media platforms, websites z advertisment, posters, emails; or though personal interaction. Your kindness can be in the form of learning materials, financial assistance, volunteering to be a tutor, or by simply spreading this advocacy.
The needed budget for this project to be conducted is estimated at ₱6,000 and would be higher depending on the number of children that will receive supplies and foods. This also covers the learning materials needed and other costs.
