PRIVACY POLICY
Last updated: 23 August 2026
This Privacy Policy outlines how we collect, use, and disclose information when you use Neonly, our mobile application available on the Apple App Store (the "App"), and related services. It also explains your privacy rights and the legal protections afforded to you. We are committed to safeguarding the personal information of our users.
By using the App or services, you consent to the handling of information as described in this policy.
OUR DATA COMMITMENTS
Before the legal details, here is what you can rely on whenever you use Neonly:
Neonly is designed to work on your device. Sign composition, rendering, preview, and export happen locally on your iPhone. Your signs, templates, and settings are stored on-device — not on our servers.
We do not collect personal data linked to your identity. As of the version of the App corresponding to this policy, Neonly is listed on the Apple App Store as "Data Not Collected." We do not use analytics SDKs, advertising SDKs, or third-party trackers in the current release.
We never sell your data. We do not sell, rent, or share your information with third parties for advertising, marketing, or analytics.
We only access what you choose. Neonly uses Apple's system photo picker so only the images you explicitly select are made available to the App. We do not access your full photo library.
The camera is used only for the flashlight. When you enable the flashlight tool, the App turns on your device's LED. The camera does not capture or transmit any images or video.
The microphone is used only to react to sound. When you enable the music-strobe tool, the App reads the ambient audio level to time the strobe. Audio is not recorded, stored, or transmitted.
These commitments reflect how the App actually operates today. If we introduce features that change how data is handled (for example, optional analytics, cloud sync, or crash reporting), we will update this Privacy Policy and reflect the change in the App Store privacy label before those features are released.
INFORMATION WE HANDLE
Information you provide
Sign designs and content. Text, layer settings, background choices, template selections, and any images you pick as backgrounds are stored locally on your device using Apple's on-device data framework (SwiftData). This content does not leave your device unless you actively export or share it.
Exported images and videos. When you export a sign, the resulting file is saved to your Photos library (with your permission) or to a location you choose through the iOS share sheet. We do not receive a copy.
Support communications. If you contact us at heyku.studio@gmail.com, we receive the information you include in your message (such as your name, email address, and the description of the issue). We use it solely to respond to your inquiry.
Information we do not collect
Neonly does not collect any of the following in the current release:
Account or profile information (no sign-in required).
Contacts, calendar, location, health data, or motion data.
Biometric identifiers or face-recognition data.
Advertising identifiers (IDFA) or cross-app tracking data.
Third-party analytics data (no Firebase, no Adjust, no Facebook SDK, no other analytics SDKs in the current release).
Purchase history beyond what Apple provides to the App locally for entitlement verification.
Automatic device features used by the App
The following device features are used locally by the App and do not involve collection of personal data by us:
Camera (torch/LED). Used solely to switch on your device's LED for the flashlight tool. No photo or video is captured.
Microphone (audio level). Used solely to measure ambient sound intensity so the strobe tool can pulse to the beat. Audio is not recorded, saved, or transmitted.
Photo library (system picker). Used solely to let you choose specific images as sign backgrounds via Apple's `PHPicker`. Only the images you pick are made available to the App.
Screen brightness and idle timer. Adjusted while a sign is being presented, and restored when you exit presentation mode.
APP-SPECIFIC PERMISSIONS
Neonly requests only the minimum iOS permissions needed to provide the features described above.
Privacy — Camera Usage. Requested to turn on your device's LED for the flashlight tool. The App does not capture, record, or transmit any images or video.
Privacy — Microphone Usage. Requested to detect ambient audio levels so the strobe can flash to the beat. Audio is not recorded, stored, or transmitted.
Privacy — Photo Library. The App uses Apple's official system photo picker (PHPicker) to select specific images for use as sign backgrounds. The App does not request full photo library access — only images you explicitly choose are accessible.
Neonly does not request App Tracking Transparency (ATT) authorization, location, contacts, calendar, health, or motion permissions in the current release.
You can review or change any granted permission at any time in the iOS Settings app.
SUBSCRIPTIONS AND IN-APP PURCHASES
Neonly offers optional paid subscriptions that unlock Pro features (such as 4K export, watermark removal, unlimited layers, and premium templates, backgrounds, and fonts). All purchases are processed by the Apple App Store under Apple's terms and privacy practices.
Apple provides the App with limited receipt/entitlement information locally so the App can confirm whether Pro features are unlocked.
We do not receive your Apple ID, payment method, billing address, or full transaction history.
Refunds are handled by Apple. Please refer to Apple's refund policy or contact Apple Support to request a refund. See also our Terms of Use for our refund practices.
HOW WE USE INFORMATION
Because Neonly does not collect personal data from you in the current release, we do not build user profiles, personalize advertising, or perform behavioural analytics.
The very limited information we may handle (such as messages you send to support, or entitlement data provided by the App Store) is used only to:
Provide, maintain, and support the App and its features.
Respond to your questions, requests, and support inquiries.
Verify your entitlement to Pro features.
Comply with applicable laws, regulations, legal processes, and legitimate governmental requests.
Detect, prevent, and address fraud, security risks, or misuse of the App.
Enforce our Terms of Use.
We do not use any information you provide to train artificial intelligence or machine-learning models.
SHARING AND DISCLOSURE
We do not share personal information with third parties for advertising, marketing, analytics, or profiling.
We may disclose information only in these limited situations:
With your consent. For example, when you explicitly export or share a sign to another app or contact.
Service providers acting on our behalf. In the current release, the only such providers are:
- Apple, Inc. — App Store distribution, in-app purchase processing, and system services (Photos picker, permissions, notifications). Apple acts under its own privacy terms.
Legal compliance and protection of rights. If required to comply with a valid legal process (search warrant, court order, subpoena) or to protect the rights, property, or safety of our users, us, or the public, as permitted or required by law.
Business transfers. In the event of a merger, acquisition, reorganization, or sale of company assets, information may be transferred as part of the transaction. Any successor entity will be bound by this Privacy Policy or a materially equivalent one.
We do not share, sell, or disclose your on-device content (signs, chosen background images, exports) to any third party.
INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS
Neonly is designed to keep your creative content on your device. When you contact our support team, your message may be handled in the country where our team or service providers operate. We apply appropriate safeguards (such as encryption in transit and access controls) to such communications, consistent with this Privacy Policy.
DATA RETENTION AND DELETION
On-device data. Your signs, templates, and preferences remain on your device until you delete them from the App or uninstall the App. Uninstalling the App removes all locally stored data.
Support communications. We retain support emails only as long as needed to resolve the issue and to comply with any legal or business obligations, after which they are deleted or anonymized.
App Store entitlement data. Managed by Apple; we do not retain a separate copy on our servers.
If we introduce features in the future that involve storing your personal data on our servers, we will describe the applicable retention periods in an updated version of this Privacy Policy.
YOUR RIGHTS
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have rights to:
Access the personal data we hold about you.
Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
Delete your data, subject to lawful exceptions.
Object to or restrict certain processing.
Withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.
Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority in your jurisdiction.
Because Neonly does not maintain an account for you and does not collect personal data on our servers in the current release, most of these rights are exercised directly through your device — for example, by deleting content in the App, revoking permissions in iOS Settings, or uninstalling the App. For any additional request, contact us at heyku.studio@gmail.com.
SECURITY
We apply appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect information that we do handle, including encryption in transit for network communications and standard iOS platform protections for on-device data. However, no method of transmission over the internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure. While we strive to use commercially acceptable means to protect information, we cannot guarantee its absolute security.
MINORS
Neonly is intended for a general audience and is rated 4+ on the Apple App Store. The App does not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at heyku.studio@gmail.com and we will take appropriate steps to address the request in accordance with applicable law.
CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY
We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or service offerings. When updates are made, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this document, and, for significant changes (including changes that affect the App Store privacy label), we will also display a prominent notice within the App or on our platform.
We encourage you to review this Privacy Policy periodically to stay informed of how we are protecting information. Continued use of the App after any updates signifies your agreement to the revised policy.
