Today is the release day! I have a first build and yesterday I almost finished but I need to fix a problem along with letting the boss damage you along with you be able to damage him, and add music and credits. It will be releasing for Windows and later Mac.
On November 2, I created a new Unity project named Slasher. I plan for it to be a melee combat metroidvania like Hollow Knight. a Metroidvania is a game that has a system of locks and keys, similar to castlevania and metroid. It's going to take MUCH longer to complete, though I plan to do it in snippets. So I want to give a maximum of 4 weeks to do the starting area and the town, and a minimum of two as well, so I don't rush it.
Today I created the protagonist. I didn't code the health and movement since I didn't have time, but that's what I plan to do today. Wish me luck!
Yesterday I coded the protagonist. And although I didn't do the health, I'll do that today. I also made a background for the game, and made it so that it would follow you, and I made the custom cursor more visible. I also made some ground. Also today I'll create the fall off into the town of Brim, along with making the scene of brim and preparing the ground.
I started a top-down shooter because I felt like the scope for the previous one was too big, and I was being consumed by its vastness. I decided to do a top down because I wanted to learn how to make them. Anyway, I did the shooting, the fact that it aims at your mouse, some obstacles, Movement, and today both create the first enemy, the Gooper, and do the health!
Yesterday I created one of the enemies and coded them as well. the enemy is called the Gooper, and it shoots goo balls as it goes towards you. the problem is that it only goes a short distance, but I think I just need to increase the speed. I'm not going to do a whole lot today because I feel like playing Minecraft Java(because Bedrock sucks IN MY OPINION).
I TRIED to play Minecraft, but I couldn't find a nether fortress, so I did the next best thing: work on top-down. I STILL don't have a name for it, but I still don't have any ideas. Anyway, I still struggled with trying to make it so that I can hit the enemies, but I'll try to see how to using tutorials. Hopefully I'll get it right!
I did nothing yesterday. I was cleaning and by the time I finished it was late and I just went to the computer to look at it and researched ways to fix the previously mentioned problem. The way I was most found of was using ray to do a previously defined line of contact which will determine if the bullet hits the target. So I'll try to do that today.
I was procrastinating yesterday, so I didn't get anything done. I'll try to do what I stated yesterday, or at least do something. Sorry for the procrastination that day😅.
I couldn't because my brother was using it. But I locked it so that he couldn't use it today, so I can use it.
If you're wondering what I did on Friday, nothing. I just didn't have time those days, but over the weekend I fixed a bug where you couldn't do damage to enemies, and I added grass and trees to the fields. at one point, I added so much grass that Unity froze, but it thankfully unfroze. Anyway, today I want to make a map system so you can know where you are.
I couldn't find a tutorial on how to make a map so I put my question in Unity Answers and started on the forest maze. Today I'll do some of the maze, but yesterday I made the box and the Enter and exit. I want to do the forest and ramp up the fields this week, so wish me luck!
No, I didn't make more enemy types, but I did add 5 more Goopers to the fields. I also added a sign post that shows the direction to go to get to the East ruins, Forests, and Fields Temple. I also added rock paths to guild the player on where to go. Today I want to make a tutorial guy named Benjamin the Tree, I already have him in the game, I just need to make dialogue for him, to he can actually tell you helpful details. Although there is a controls menu (which I'll probably revise), I don't want you to have to quit the game just to know how to do your special shot.
Yesterday I created dialogue for Ben he tree(Benjamin). Though the only problem is that you don't have to walk up o him to start the dialogue, which I need to fix today. After, I'll make a in development web version to see how it looks. I also have to fix a bug wih the options screen where the back button won't work.
Sorry I haven't been posting, it was the thanksgiving break. But it is still the break, I just wanted you to know what I was up to! So I've been fixing stuff like the dialogue, which shorty after fixing it has ANOTHER issue, but that's not what this entry is about. It's about the first dungeon, the Fields Temple! It is a 5 room gauntlet of goopers that increases in size, and you have to defeat all of the goopers in the room to go to the next, or previous room! If you die you have to start from the beginning. In the final room there will be a boss which I shall code today! When I'm finished, I'm going to do some polishing of the Forests, and maybe add some enemies. Anyway, wish me luck!
