Venkatesh V. Nemmara. Ph. D (PI)

Venkatesh received his Ph.D. in biochemistry from the Pratt lab at Wesleyan University. During his time at Wesleyan, he received the Peterson fellowship award for excellence in research, a prestigious award given to outstanding scholars in chemistry. In 2014, Venkatesh moved to the Raushel lab at Texas A&M University for a postdoctoral research focused on studying novel enzyme functions. Following this, he moved to the Thompson Lab at UMass Medical School to investigate the role of citrullination, a post-translational modification, in autoimmune disorders and cancers. He utilized a combination of biochemical and chemical biology tools to achieve this task. As an assistant professor at Rowan University, Dr. Nemmara and his research group will focus on understanding the therapeutic potential of tumorigenic proteins using novel chemical biology techniques.
