Laboratory Assistant
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, CA, however, I moved to Oahu in middle school and have been here ever since. Growing up, I was constantly in nature, whether it was backpacking through national parks, going to the beach, etc. Having grown up on a coast my entire life, I have always been particularly fascinated and connected with the ocean. Combining my love for nature, science, as well as sustainability, I entered the Global Environmental Science program at the University of Hawai’i at Mānoa. I initially joined the Nelson Lab in the fall semester of my Junior year as a laboratory assistant to help out with running samples for the UH Red Hill Task Force. Since then, not only have I had the opportunity to become more deeply involved in the task force, but I have also begun my thesis for my major graduation requirement.
I am currently interested in studying the microbial communities of corals under ocean acidification. I hope to understand more about how ocean acidification impacts microbes and in turn, impacts coral communities.
