Plot summary of A.M.D.

Set in 1950’s rural Vermont; three siblings—Josephine, Julia, and Kaleb Brannan—face uncertainty and hardship as they confront  poverty, mental illness, and abuse within their inner family circle. In addition, a hidden mystery shrouds the family history that is both haunting and scandalous. A horrifying Halloween encounter unmasks gripping questions that compel the siblings to search for answers, even as they strive to protect their teetering reputation. 

The story delves into three generations; capturing an era of idealized familial values, and the shame felt within a family falling short of the ‘American Dream.’ Contrasted with small town charm, a robust jazz band, and a series of playful mishaps gone awry; past secrets are uncovered, harsh realities exposed. 

Yet, as deeply disturbing as the truth turns out to be, the newfound revelations at last open the way toward healing, redemption, and hope.
