The Network of Educators for Korean-Canadian Students would like to invite Korean-identifying students for an exciting student leadership event!
This special initiative brings Korean-Canadian students together to connect, build friendships, and explore their Korean heritage and identity in a welcoming and engaging environment.
Date: April 16, 2026
Location: Thornhill Secondary School
Time: 5:00pm - 8:00pm
Light dinner will be served.
Students will have the opportunity to:
Meet and connect with other Korean students across YRDSB
Explore and discuss what it means to be Korean-Canadian
Learn about potential future leadership opportunities, including involvement with the Korean-Canadian Student Council
Eligibility:
Korean Heritage & Grade Eligibility: Students who identify as Korean or are of Korean heritage and are currently in Grades 8–11.
Responsibility and Leadership Potential: Students who demonstrate reliability, initiative, and a willingness to contribute, collaborate, and grow as leaders within their school and community.
Interest in Cultural Learning and Community Building: Students who are interested in exploring Korean identity, heritage, and culture, and who are eager to connect, build relationships, and engage with other Korean Canadian students.
Staff Reference: A recommendation from a YRDSB staff member confirming the student’s readiness, character, and suitability for participation in a leadership setting.
Referrals can be made by staff or self-identifying Korean-Canadian students. Referrals can be made through this form.

This professional learning session for educators introduces culturally responsive and relevant pedagogy (CRRP) through an identity-focused lens. Participants will explore their identity and its connection to student experience while learning practical ways to create identity-affirming classroom spaces. The session provides an accessible entry point into anti-bias and anti-racist pedagogical approaches and supports educators in their role as educators and leaders.
