The Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA), often referred to as “the Contract,” is the legally-binding agreement between the university and our union. The CBA is renegotiated periodically, usually about every 3 – 4 years. The Contract addresses everything from salary to workload, evaluation procedures to grievances.
All members are encouraged to get familiar with the Contract!
A “Memorandum of Agreement” or MOA is a modification to the contract that is approved by vote of the union membership.
A “Memorandum of Understanding” or MOU is a modification to the contract that is negotiated and agreed to after consultation with the union executive board and membership, but which does not require a vote by the union membership.
