Neil Banerjee

I'm a doctoral candidate in Linguistics at MIT. I study the form of words and sentences.

My linguistic interests are mainly in verbal morphosyntax. Some topics I'm currently thinking about include:

  • Ellipsis and portmanteau formation in Hungarian and Cypriot Greek

  • Ellipsis and allomorphy in Bengali and Dutch

  • Agreement resolution with conjoined subjects in Kinyarwanda

  • Negative (in)effability of imperatives in Indo-Aryan (with Gurmeet Kaur)

Outside of linguistics, I enjoy train travel, cooking, cartography (the non-syntactic sort), attending theatre, and playing board games.

I'm from Mississauga, Canada. My pronouns are he/him.
