MAT 453 Fall 2023

Class Schedule: Mon-Wed-Fri, 1:00-1:50 AM; Jennes Hall 102

Textbook: The “textbook” for the course will be the notes available on the course website. No other materials will be required for reading. Optional additional online resources or notes will be posted to the course website.

Office Hours: Monday 3:00-4:00 PM; Neville Hall 238 (my office)

Additionally, Monday 9:30 AM-10:30 AM will be joint office hours with STS 132 in my office Neville Hall 238.

Homework Policy: Homework will be due every Wednesday at the end of class. No late homework will be accepted. Due to the grading policy, only emergency situations will be considered for extensions on homework.

Grading Policy:

Homework (10 total): 30% (3% each)

Quizzes (5 total): 15% (3% each)

Midterm Exam: 20%

Final Exam: 35%

The ten highest homework scores will count for your homework grade. (For example, if there are 12 assignments in the semester, the two lowest scores get dropped.)

Exams/Quizzes: The midterm will be (tentatively) scheduled for October 18 in class. The final exam is scheduled by the university for December 11, 9:30-11:30 AM in Jennes 102.

Quizzes will be on 09/08, 09/22, 10/06, 11/03, 11/17
