If the failure to meet the needs related to a particular channel leads to the deactivation of that channel, it is possible that greater efforts will be put into meeting the needs of one of the other channels.
For example, when people lose a sense of control (self-governance - behavioural channel), they frequently perceive illusory patterns (predictability) and strengthen certain belief systems (meaning) indicating increased reliance on the symbolic channel.
